4.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but worth it!
[Money] is a bit much for a book, but this is a limited edition and mine was signed by the band (1995 line-up). Great historical info and pictures in this book, and you have to appreciate the amount of work that went into assembling all this stuff for the book (though the binding has given many owners some problems). Superior to its follow-up KISSTORY II. This book is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Kisstory 1
In what is supposed to be the difinitive story of my favorite band KISS, i have to say, if falls a bit short. For starters, i think full page pics of the band would have been cooler instead of the various collages and text written over the pics. Also, i personally would have loved to have seen features on the various guitars and drum kits used. That would have been very...

Great historical info and pictures in this book, and you have to appreciate the amount of work that went into assembling all this stuff for the book (though the binding has given many owners some problems). Superior to its follow-up KISSTORY II. This book is perhaps better as a collectible than as a gloves-off historical document of the band, but there is a lot in this book to like, even if Gene and Paul do pull some punches about their own troubled and storied career. Want some more behind-the-scenes stories of the band? Check out the book KISS AND SELL by C.K. Lendt, available at this website and many others. Lendt's book is a bit more revealing of the ugly business aspects of the band's history, and significantly cheaper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, December 17, 2000

I thought this was worth the money considering it's size, content, and the fact that it's signed. Tons of great rare pics. The comic section is pure filler though. I'd give it 5 stars but can only give it 4 due to the comics and also to the fact that it's poorly bound. The cover, pages, slip case, etc. are all of high quality, but I've seen so many of these that are falling apart at the seams. If you buy one, read it carefully. Don't open it too far, and certainly don't let your clumsy, careless friends get their mits on it! It's a good read too if you don't mind the fact that it's The World According To Gene & Paul.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hottest Band In The Universe, October 17, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Kisstory: 440 Pages from the Bands Own Private Collection (Hardcover)
I first heard kiss in 1976 and became a instant fan. This band has a back beat that you just can't get out of your head. For 22 years i've been the biggest ( sensible ) KISS fan in SO CA. While everyone I knew was trashing kiss I was KISS. I would always dress in my KISS belt buckle and one of my fav. KISS T- shirts. At the age of 13 I was hot on kiss. at 35 I still am. KISS is a band who has withstood the test of time. I knew that they would be back together. No one could have stopped it...... Not even Gene...

This book is the rock and roll bible and is a must for all overdue expectant mothers who want to give birth soon..... Its a shocker from the rockers.......KISSTORY

That would have been very cool!. With that, features on the evolution of their stages, costumes and make-up would also have been cool. I don't know. KISS is more a cash cow business than it has ever been and it's un-fortunate because if they came out with ligitimate, cool stuff, people would still buy it. Don't get me wrong, this book is a must have, and even the rediculous price tag is justified because it is what it is. But, i think ALL the copies should have been autographed and i think more attention to the details should have been made. Where's a pic outside the Chinese theater? Why no shots of them rehearsing without make-up? Why not commentary from the band on their songs, albums and each other? KISSTORY falls short on its HISTORY!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Knowing what I know now....., February 5, 2001

would I purchase this book? The answer is no. While the original series was autographed (by Bruce and Eric in mine) the stability of the book and the time it took to get the thing both were/are sub-par. When it appeared that the original band would never get back together - this was a very good document to the past. Now, it's nice for pictures, but a lot has chaged in the world of KISS. I would recommend Extreme Close-up or Second Coming as video documents. Much cheaper and about the same content. Pictures can always be found on the web anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very beautyful & a must for any KISS-fan !, March 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Kisstory: 440 Pages from the Bands Own Private Collection (Hardcover)
I love this book, it's so heavy and so full of KISS ! Everything you ever wanted to know can be found in it. I got a real kick out of seeing the real signatures of Ace, Paul, Gene & Peter : I've got them a bit more in my home now ! I was lucky to buy it at the concert in Holland (03-13-1999), but otherwise I would have bought it through the Internet ! The only reason why I don't rate the book 5 stars, is the price. OK, it's worth the money, but there should be a cheaper version of the book for the less fortunate KISS fans !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are a true KISS follower you've just got to have it!, February 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Kisstory: 440 Pages from the Bands Own Private Collection (Hardcover)
While waiting for the concert at the entertainment centre in Sydney Australia I was sitting with my family (wife, 3 boys ) across the road in a pub (bar). I was 15 when I first got into KISS and am now 38. IN Aussie Dollars it was about $200.00 (KISSTORY) but after all those years it was worth it to get a bit of inside info on the guys. I just hope they can come out to OZ for the "Curcus" tour. By the way it was the "sickest" , concert my boys have ever seen !!! PS. Hope to see ya in OZ!!
