WORTHLESS,

I found this item (the large size) at Ross for around $5. The idea is great, the execution not so much. It "adjusts" to let you choose the thickness of the patty. But adjusting the patty size, and "dispensing" the patty once it's formed, are almost impossible for two reasons: (1) the two plastic cylinders "stick," and do not move smoothly against each other and (2) your hands get SLIPPERY in the process of forming the patties (even with lean ground turkey) so you can't get a good grip on the two plastic cylinders. So, concept 5 stars; execution 0 stars. I just put mine in the garbage. /:o[

Easily broken,

The design concept here is outstanding. The quality is lacking, however. There are very small plastic "pegs" which hold the serving size disk in place. I have barely used this, and already two pegs have broken off, rendering it totally useless. I really liked it, too. 'Would love to see a stainless steel model. This one is junk. Don't bother. It won't last long. For those concerned with getting the burger out, I never touch hamburger when making patties. Try this: Spoon the burger into a fold-top baggie. Form the ball inside and place in the press. The burger will fill out inside the baggie and will be ready for the refrigerator or freezer. No fuss, no muss. Just pick a different gadget from this one.

I've tried other patty making products, and this is my favorite so far.I have no trouble at all making it work. I just slide a knife or spatula a little bit behind the burger to encourage it to drop. It's nice having the two sizes. But, and this is why I didn't give it five stars, the small is small and the large is large. Neither is a normal burger size. I'm a vegetarian and use it exclusively for homemade veggie burgers. Definitely an improvement over mashing them together by hand, and over the other two burger presses I tried. I'd buy it again.
