1.0 out of 5 stars Maybe the worst book ever!, May 22, 2009
This review is from: 50s, '60s, & '70s Kitchen Collectibles (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
I'm the type of person who sees merit in every movie I've ever seen...there's never been a bad one made. I'm the same about books and to say this is the worst one ever took a lot of doing! As a buyer and seller of mid-century kitchenware, I'm always looking for new insights; Some history, some timeline, some idetification. This book definitely doesn't have it.

There is absolutely no text, not one word. When were the pieces made? Who knows? Who made them? Many, if not most, do not indicate a manufacturer, which makes me think it was shoddily researched and just thrown together. I will say the photography is excellant, but if the authors wanted to put out a coffee table book, they could have at least oversized it and made it a hard cover. Unless you're looking for pretty pictures, I'd leave this one on the shelf.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!, October 27, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 50s, '60s, & '70s Kitchen Collectibles (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
I'm in complete agreement with 'Madhatter'. I also collect and deal in mid-century kitchenware and I pretty much buy every book on the subject that is available. To find absolutely no text in this book was beyond belief. All you get are some very pretty photographs and prices. They even misspelled one of the major enamel bowl makers (it's Cathrineholm, the name of a place in Norway, not Cathrine Holm!) which tells me they did NO research whatsoever. As far as pricing, they fail to give a bowl size which is a huge indicator of value. You could honestly get the same or more information by paying a visit to a large auction website for free. Don't waste your money!
