5.0 out of 5 stars Have to edit my review

Initially when I received this set, it was amazing. I could pull anything out of the oven and not feel the heat. Three years later, however, they are not as effective as they were when they were new. Unfortunately, I have to make sure that I quickly move any items from the oven to a spot. If I hold onto the items, I feel it right through the mitt. Darn...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, most of the time . . .
The mitts are OK most of the time. It's easy to grip most things. BUT they're not so great at temps over 450. They start to melt a bit on my cast iron when I pull it out of a hot oven. You can smell them burning which is pretty unappealing.

If I could change the stars to 3, I would. They aren't bad, but they aren't great (anymore)

I picked these up awhile ago and have given them a pretty rigourous workout.

From blistering trays at 450 to heavy roast pans, these mitts have proven to be durable, grip extremely well and easy to care for. Having that secure grip is great reassurance when handling something hot and or heavy.

Clean up is a breeze as well. Just put them under the tap.

I have tried some of the "pro" heavy duty silicone gloves but I found them very bulky. This is the best and worth the money.

The only thing that kept it getting a 5* is that they could have been a bit longer. Hopefully the manufacturers will look into that.

2.0 out of 5 stars Didn't hold up, November 25, 2007

These oven mitts worked great for about nine months, when the tips of the thumbs ripped. For the price, they should have lasted longer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best, February 1, 2009

I'm a little disappointed with these oven mitts. They adequately protect your hands for a short amount of time, but you start to feel the heat pretty soon. The stitching is on the sides, which is a point of weakness in the design, because heat and moisture seep in. I will keep these for awhile, but I would not recommend them.

Update: October 2010

After about two years of use, the stitching on these oven mitts came apart, and now they are nearly useless. Again: not recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you have big hands, the mitts are perfect, July 3, 2008

My husband likes the mitts a lot. They are longer than regular. So it protects your wrists too.

They are bit too large for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great oven mitts, March 19, 2008

Duncan's Kitchen grips are my new favourite kitchen gift. I have never felt the heat through them and i love that they are not bulky so it's easy to grip things. I also discovered that they are great for opening bottles and jars. They look great and are easy to clean. Love them!

My husband bought me one of these oven mitts for christmas and I'll admit I was skeptical, but I really liked it and now have 2. I really like them for grabbing hot dishes out of the microwave, and for pulling dishes out of the oven without putting my thumb into the top of my cake, pie, brownies, etc. They grip the sides of the dish very well--I can life out anything by placing my palms flat against either side of the dish (e.g., corningware with the cover on). Also, if they get food on them, I can just wipe it off with a sponge.
