5.0 out of 5 stars Really amazing
This is the first "high tech" oven mitt I've ever purchased. It's amazing that something so thin can protect you from heat! I love how they fold so flat and small into a drawer- they take up 1/5 the space of a normal insulated material set of oven mitts.

My only complaint is that the extra-long mitts are too narrow at the top for guys with big forearms...

3.0 out of 5 stars Can't Take Direct Flame
Though these are effective oven mitts, the material is flammable when exposed to a direct flame. Also, water leaks in through the stitching.

I prefer silicone over fabric, like the Oxo mitts and pot holders.

My only complaint is that the extra-long mitts are too narrow at the top for guys with big forearms. This causes the mitts to tend to slide off my hands. I'm leaving these for my wife and ordering a set of normal length mitts for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oven Mitt, January 3, 2007

These oven mitts are great as far as keeping your hands from getting scorched but they're not very malleable. The stiffness can make it difficult to grab things with ease. Otherwise, they're great.

I'd tried silicone mitts before and was disappointed in that they weren't form-fitting enough to be able to safely grip a pan. These are completely different--flexible and comfortable.

We have used the Kitchen Grips oven mitts for several years and found them to be excellent at gripping and preventing burns while cooking and baking. We had the "Extra Long" model that offered protection for most of the forearm as well as the hands. The construction of these mitts is a solid sheet of a rubber-like material so there is no sewn seam or bunching of the insulation, which can allow burns, as in cloth mitts. We had ordered two sets of the Extra Long Kitchen Grips for gifts. Unfortunately, despite ordering the Extra Long models, Amazon sent, and resent after a phone call, only the regular length models. We prefer the Extra Long models.
