Just wonderful!, December 1, 2000
This review is from: Kitchen and Herb Gardener (Hardcover)
I picked up this book as a gift last week, and I am now debating about giving it away or keeping it for myself, even though I am not a gardener. I thought that this book only talked about herbs and how to plant them... wrong, it contains so much more! It includes many landscape plans on how to design your garden in the medieval, renaissance, formal and many other styles. It not only includes herbs, but vegetables, fruits, some trees and flowers. It also shows you how to make your design a reality. Or you can use on of their many designs. After the section on design, there is a section about soils, planting, greenhouses, etc. and about the most common problems encountered and how to deal with them. It then has a section about vegetables, where it describes everything about that specific vegetable in a concise well-illustrated way. Each veggie takes two pages! Same deal with fruits and with herbs. It also has some recipe about what to do with some herbs/flowers, for example marigold skin salve. And lastly,it contains a great table describing seasonal tasks. Everything is in this book. It is a very well illustrated book, very easy to understand and it makes me want to pick up gardening!

This book is the holy grail for me. With my 100 square foot garden I can sit back and read this watching my garden grow.
