I purchased this product with the intent of using it to replace an old slow cooker I have had since the 1970's due to safety concerns with the old one. I used it today for the first time (cooking a roast on low heat) and noticed that the sides are very very hot...this afer only one hour of cooking so far. I would feel extermely nervous to leave the house for any length of time while this unit is cooking. I may try to return it to the store this week and find a different brand.

I was looking for a crock pot to replace one that I use alot. I decided to redo my kitchen in roosters. that was my main reason for the purchase. I received the product in perfect shape and it works great. It is large enough to cook a large roast with all the trimings. Its a great crock pot.
