Excellent Blades BUT Returned Them!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KitchenAid 9 and 12-Cup Food Processor 5-Disc Set (Kitchen)
I purchased the processor and blades at the same time. I had called in advance and was told no blades came with the processor. However, three excellent blades and a nifty storage box do come with the processor, so the extra $70.00 for these 5 seemed rather unneccesary. They will allow more functionality than the standard 3 discs enclosed with the processor, but for us, these five would have been 'over-kill'.

I purchased the set to add to my existing disks mostly because of julienne disk and to save the money (purchasing separately costs about $24.00 in average).I'm greatly disappointed with julienne disk which creates total mess. When I used it for zucchinis I thought well it's because it's too soft, but carrots were even messier. It looked worse than just simple grating. It wasn't uniform in size (some sort of little tiny sticks along with fine shredding) I was looking for long uniform matchsticks. I'm still looking for julienne device which would produce fine long pieces with minimal waste.Any suggesting greatly appreciated

I bought this mostly for the french fry cutter. I'm very happy with how the french fries come out. My kids love the taste of fresh french fries. I've seen reviews on this before, commenting on how small the fries are. That is a problem with the size of the opening in the cover, but since that can't be controlled, I'm more than satisfied with the size of the fries. As far as the other discs, I'm still learning to use the food processor so I haven't used them much. They seem mostly to be thicker or thinner versions of slicers I already have, but I'm sure I'll see the need as I do more "processing." I just wish I had a nice case for all of these.

Dull Blades,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KitchenAid 9 and 12-Cup Food Processor 5-Disc Set (Kitchen)
The 6 mm slicing disc works quite well. The 6 mm shredding disc worked well after I sharpened the very dull teeth with a small round file. This was really tedious and should not have been necessary. The Julienne disc works really well if you want to make pulp, but it does not Julienne well at all. Approximately 30% was sliced into ragged, and I do mean ragged, Julienne strips the rest was turned into pulp. Saying the Julienne disc contains blades is not really accurate. It actually has blunt vertical metal strips. This accounts for the pulping and ragged Julienne cuts. Grating disc works well enough, but makes powder as as opposed to what I would call grated cheese. I haven't tried the other discs yet. I feel the machine rotates too fast to work well with most of the discs. You must keep pressure on the food via the pusher when slicing otherwise the slices with be much less than the 6 mm. I would also like an 8 mm slicing disc. I hope this helps.

The blades are sturdy, the julienne blade and french fry blade don't work as well as I had expected, need to play with it some more. The parmesan blade is wonderful and slicing is slicing. Would order again, kitchenaid is the best

The Kitchen Aid 9 cup processor was a gift to son & D-I-L. I use the discs in this set the most so bought a set for them. They now use their processor more frequently. I use mine almost daily generally with these disc. D-I-L said the other day she loves her KA. Previously they hardly used it due to the type of disc. I am happy they are regular users now.

Food processor great, could use a larger feed tube like our old beloved cuisinart, but more than adequate performance. Dont need the 5 disc set. It duplicates what is included(IMO)with the food processor.

Cutting disks are good quality, there are one or two duplicate disks that were also present with my new food processor. I would definitely buy this set for the extra cut sizes.

received the blade kit. Kitchenaid should do a box or whatever to place the blades sideways, easy to pick up. The one blade from Kitchenaid that I do not like much: french fry one... I had to throw away 1/2 of my Yukon Gold production, too smll parts, useless in my fryer.

feed the food smoothly, and always allow the blades to reach & maintain full speed when applying the food. i just hope Kitchen Aid make a Storage case that will hold 6 blades in one case.
