1.0 out of 5 stars Bad design for draining water, March 17, 2011
This review is from: KitchenAid 3-Piece Dish Drying Rack (Kitchen)
I really wanted to love this KitchenAid dish drainer, as it is sturdy and large. However, the detachable silverware drainer is badly designed - there is only one opening to drain the water, in the center of the middle 'box'. The water doesn't ever completely drain out of it, and then it gets VERY scuzzy inside. And, it is then very hard to clean the scum out, as the openings for each compartment are a bit too small for my hand. I tried a sponge - nope; tried a toothbrush - nope; finally found a brush (it's the kind that has a handle you can add soap to and then scrub dishes) that reaches all of the interior of this compartment. But, really, do you want to spend alot of effort and time getting rid of scum that shouldn't have formed in the first place? I have it in white, which definitely exacerbates the visibility of the scum.

I miss my old dish rack.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very unhappy with this purchase, May 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KitchenAid 3-Piece Dish Drying Rack (Kitchen)
I purchased this KitchenAid dish rack in December 2011, it is now May 2011 and I feel like I have thrown my money away. It has been only 5 months and my dish rack has not only begun to rust but stains my dishes as well. Additionally, what seems like an inaccessible draining board gets easily discolored, or stained rather, since with all the intense cleaning it continues to have this reddish color. I purchased this dish rack because I liked the design of the rack (the draining board left nothing to be desired) and it holds a large amount of dishes, but what good is a large dish rack if it doesn't last.

RUST??!! Are they kidding? For the money I spent on this I am beyond pissed. How in the world do you make a dish drain not stainless steel knowing RUST will occur on CHEAP metals and then have the gaul to charge so much for it? I am putting a formal complaint into the company. I would send it back if I kept the box and all. Never purchase again.

Totally agree with the review of ACE304. I had the same problem with rust all over the wire portion and residue building up in the utensil bins after a very short while. What a disappointment! Went back to the $10 vinyl coated rack that we've been using.
