My husband, a baker for more than 40 years, and I have used our 3-quart stainless bowl and Combi-Whip for the 6-quart Kitchenaid mixer since the day it arrived! We have mixed pancakes, icings, and small batches of other goodies using this item. My husband, who used mixer bowls up to 140 quarts in his business, loves this small bowl and whip best. It's efficient, effective, and just the right size!

I've always wanted a second bowl for my 5qt Pro, but seemed a waste to get another large bowl. This 3qt is the perfect size for small batches and whipping cream and egg whites. Kitchenaid could not have thought up a better addition to their stand mixers.

Also I want to add, I ordered this on Dec. 23rd and I don't know if seller thought it was a Christmas present or what (it was a present to me) but received on the afternoon of Dec. 24th. Excellent service.

Check with Kitchenaid first before purchasing this bowl. I bought it for the Pro 600 which it is supposed to be compatible with. My Kitchenaid mixer has a 6 qt. bowl and I wanted a smaller bowl for beating eggs separately. Well, the bowl to beater clearance did not work for mine. The combi whip sat too high and would not beat my egg whites sufficiently after 5 min. on Speed 10. And, yes, I know how to beat egg whites. I'm an avid baker. I called Kitchenaid to see if there was an adjustment I could make but there isn't. If I adjusted for this bowl, then my 6 qt. would be problematic. So they told me to return it. I read a couple of reviews online that stated to add a very thin rubber washer to where the bowl attaches. You don't want to do that and risk damaging your mixer.

THIS IS PRETTY SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD. ITS A SMALLER MIXING BOWL FOR ADDED EASE IN USING YOUR KITCHENAID MIXER. WE JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT THE PRO 600 AND WHILE THE 6 QUART BOWL IS FABULOUS, AND TRULY WITH THE WHISK TO BOWL CLEARANCE OF MINE AT LEAST YOU COULD BEAT EGGS AND SMALL RECIPES, SO THE 3 QUART BOWL WAS MORE OF A WANT THAN A NEED. THE 6 QUART BOWL ISN'T HEAVEY, SO YOU COULD DO FINE WITH IT. FOR ME I SAW THE ADDED CONVINENCE OF SIMPLY HAVING A SECOND BOWL AND IT SEEMED TO MAKE SENSE THAT IT BE A SMALLER SIZE OTHER THAN HAVING TWO 6 QUARTS. IT WAS MY PREFERENCE.

I am so glad I bought this 3qt bowl and whip for my Professional600 kitchenaid. It fits and works great for the smaller baking jobs that I don't need my 6qt bowl for. I was worried from the reviews that it might not fit correctly but after reading the description it explained exactly which kitchenaids it fits with. Have used it many times and had no problems.

We bought the Kitchenaid stand mixer mainly for making bread, but have found os many other uses for it. Since there are only two of most of the time, this smaller bowl and the Combi Whip have come in so handy for making smaller recipes, or just as a second bowl. And even though it is smaller it works just as hard; the Combi Whip is great for whipping cream or beating egg whites but it also stands up to my favorite oatmeal cookie recipe.

When I upgraded to the KitchenAid Pro 600, I was disappointed to find that I could not beat egg whites in the larger bowl. The beater clearance was set correctly, but the whip would not reach the small amount of liquid in the bottom of the bowl. This solved the problem. It's also nice to have a second bowl on hand.

Like many others here, I got this to go with my larger-size stand mixer, in my case a Pro 600. The Pro is great but you pay for the large capacity by its being less useful for very small batches of things. Enter the 3-qt Combi Whip combination - half the size, just right and seemingly engineered to make up the gap. I got it to make quick work of beating egg whites and cream.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Both the bowl and the whip are well made, but they don't fit together - the beater doesn't reach the bottom of the bowl. This specially sized beater was made specifically to fit this smaller, more shallow bowl, but it's been machined a tad too short. The result is that your cream or egg whites will sit in the bottom of the bowl and not whip, no matter what. They're just not getting enough contact.

I'm not the only one posting this problem, and another commenter here is replying to other complaints with directions on how to adjust the beater clearance at the back of the bowl arm. Well, no; adjusting the beater clearance is not a reasonable solution. If your clearance is just right for the large bowl, you don't want to mess with it just to whip a bowl egg whites and then have to adjust it right back to continue using the large bowl. Clearance, once precisely adjusted, should be left alone. If an extra attachment requires 2 instances of beater clearance adjustment each time just to use it, there is a problem.

Too bad, because it's a great idea. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it might work ok for thicker doughs, even if it can't do whipping. Since some folks here are happy with it, I'm guessing they're using it for cookie doughs and cake batters, and that's great. (You can't knead bread dough with this item.) But whipping is what I wanted it for, so I didn't get to throw away my hand mixer after all.
