4.0 out of 5 stars Nice but a little light
The steak knives look just as pictures. They cut through pork chops easily. I love having some better steak knives. They are seemless which makes the look and feel good. My only comment is that they feel rather light as the handles are hollow. I'd prefer something with a little more balanced weight in my hand. My friend also noted that the weight was rather light.

2.0 out of 5 stars Initially great, but don't hold an edge
Initially, I would have highly recommended these steak knives. They were VERY sharp. After only about six months of use, however, they became very dull. My previous set of steak knives stayed sharp for many years.

For this reason, I cannot recommend this product.

Very nice set, sleek design feels good on the hand. Ultra sharp blade and gleeming metal. We will order more of these and give some as gifts.

These knives are the best steak knives I have ever used; I use them also to peel potatoes and other jobs. Then, of course, I loved them because I love red...

4.0 out of 5 stars colorful, functional and non-serrated, November 21, 2007

We like these. We don't like serrated steak knives. And we don't need (read: can't afford) fancy-expensive steak knives.
These are lightweight and colorful.
These do require sharpening, as the steel is not particularly hard. But I like to sharpen, and these sharpen up quickly.

good for price. We are happy.

cook's illustrated recommended the Kitchenaid brand of steak knives and to buy steak knives without the serated (sp?)edge. These knives are very nice, especially for the money I paid for them. They have a full tang, a sharp edge and I honed them a bit and they were as sharp as my Wusthofs. Nice cheap steak knives you won't care if you lose or damage one at this price.
FOLLOW UP - not sure why i'm following up - since they aren't available anymore - but i still love them, except for the handle has a space between the knife blade and the plastic and it collects "gunk" so, keep this in mind when buying them. Otherwise, i use them for everything - including slicing tomatoes.

I have to agree with the previous poster - why in the world is "KitchenAid" permanently stamped on the knife blade? It made me think I should stamp "Mikasa" in the center of my dinner plate.

I had assumed that the "KitchenAid" logo was merely a peel off sticker. Once I saw it was stamped on to the blade I repackaged and returned it. Other than the stamp, the piece has an attractive shape and finish.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light, but functional. Great looks (but why the big honkin logo?), March 22, 2007
This review is from: KitchenAid 4-Piece Stainless Steel Steak Knife Set (Kitchen)
They're light, too light for my taste, but my hubby likes them. Balance is good. Shape is great. Nice and sharp.

Gripe: was not expecting then to be 'branded' as much as they are. IOn the picture, that black blob on the blade is a KitchenAid logo. Yes, a KitchenAid appliance says something about the (perceived) quality, but a knife?!? Next thing ya know my new car will arrive with 'Mercedes' stamped all over the bumper...
