Product Description

Amazon.com Review

KitchenAid's durable, professional-level bakeware is for home bakers who take their treats seriously. This 9-inch cake pan is just the right size for baking coffee cake, individual layers for a birthday cake, or fruit crisps. Constructed of heavyweight carbon steel, the pan distributes heat evenly, resists warping at high temperatures, and bakes cakes to perfection. Large rolled edges and oversized rims add extra durability and make the cake pan easy to lift out of the oven even when wearing bulky oven mitts. Baked goods release easily due to the SlideEase nonstick coating. KitchenAid bakeware is safe for use with metal utensils, but should be hand washed to preserve the nonstick coating. This cake pan is covered by a one-year hassle-free replacement and a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Product Description

Leave it to KitchenAid to come up with bakeware that has it all. It used to be that you had to sacrifice baking and functional qualities for non-stick properties. You couldn't use metal utensils, you couldn't put it in the dishwasher, and you couldn't trust it to give good performance for more than a couple of years. Those days are gone! This is heavy gauge bakeware with a non-stick coating KitchenAid touts as the most durable in the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sqaure Performer, December 29, 2005

A very good baking pan, heavy enough to provide even heating and non stick performance. I have always baked in them (I have two) but this Christmas I used one for caramels and one for fudge. When the candy had cooled, I flipped the pans over, tapped the bottom and the whole block of candy, plopped right out. When I am done cooking in them, I just throw the pans in the dishwasher and they are ready for the next task. Great handles, make picking them up, while they're hot, a breeze.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy Duty & Very Nonstick, February 22, 2005

Like the other Kitchenaid nonstick bakeware, this square pan is made from very heavy gauge metal and, unlike Ecko and even Wilton, the nonstick coating is thick and durable.

Don't gouge the surface with metal implements, don't overheat the pan (450 F max), and don't use an abrasive nylon pad like a Scotchbrite to clean it. The nonstick surface is so effective that there should be no need for harsh cleaning. Even seriously baked on foods should come off after an hour of soaking in warm water.

There is one odd issue. The square pan isn't really square. The sides are slightly curved, apparently to improve the appearance. If you want absolutely square brownies, you won't like this because the edge brownies will have a curved side and the size will vary a bit. Most people aren't that anally retentive, so this won't be a problem.

I just finished off one of Paula Deen's Elvis Gooey... and thanks to my KitchenAid it came out perfectly and better yet it tasted super. Of course, my kitchen talents were the most important element and certainly not the pan or recipe. Wrong. If you can read you can cook for the most part but it takes a KitchenAid to do it right. It did and all thought that I did a super job. Fooled them. One little hint that I found useful: use a plastic knife to cut the cake or whatever so that you do not scratch the bottom of the pan. Someone went for the pizza cutter and thank goodness I prevailed and did not permit the bottom's demise. Other than that hope you enjoy as much as I.
