I just bought this recently from this seller for about $50 less. Really nice microwave - has so much power that I find I need to reduce the power level for lots of things and if I don't, the time is greatly reduced. Burned popcorn almost immediately at high heat.
Very tough, very sleek looking, but huge. Keep in mind when buying to have a large space for it. It doesn't bother me, but my husband thinks it is too big and we have a large kitchen with lots of counter space.

This unit was a replacement for the 10 year identical unit that came with my home. Installation was a 10 minute breeze since it had identical dimensions to the older unit. I've been using it daily for the past 2 years now, and its doing just great. High power and easy clean up when some of liquids get agressive.

Unacceptable Quality At This Price In My Opinion,

I have had one of these units for about four years and it is well out of its one year warranty. While it worked, I was happy with it.
Last night the door release mechanism broke so I had to use a screwdriver to force the door open before throwing it away. I replaced it with a unit I bought at Sears for one fourth the price - probably less than the repair of the four year old failed unit. If the Sears one breaks, no problem. I got a three year extended waranty and the total was still about one third the price of this unit. While I understand nothing works forever, at this price, I do not believe the unit should have failed in this way so soon. I suspect, but do not know, the door release mechanism that failed is plastic. If so, it certainly worked in my case though I would consider this an unforgivable planned-obsolescence design. I personally will never buy any KitchenAid product again. Do yourself a favor and shop around. Maybe you will find something that costs one fourth as much and lasts half as long - saving you half the price when it fails.

I have a Microwave similar to this one. The bottom inside underneath the glass plate is rusting. I called Customer service. I was told its out of warranty, and That I probably left food in there to cause the rust. How RUDE, Unprofessional and UNTRUE!! I was told to stop using it because now radiation is leaking out.I chatted online with another representative of Kitchenaid. I was told even though there is rust inside its fine and ok to use. I spent over $500.00 on this MIcrowave, never expecting something like this to happen. I've decided to look for another Microwave with better customer service and product quality.

After some "internet" shopping we purchased our microwave oven and trim kit from Loews. The associate worked with the dimensions of our cut-out to confirm our choice of microwaves. We waited just short of 3 weeks for delivery. The microwave was fairly well packed but still arrived with a small "ding" in the door. Unbelievably, the glass turntable was packed in a recessed area of foam at the very top of the box. No protection at all was provided for unexpected excess pressure on the top of the box.
There is a label with some general instructions on the inside of the door frame. An accompanying booklet offers more extensive advise on how to best utilize the unit for cooking and/or heating various food items. The touch panel is fairly straight forward; with an "add a minute" feature. There is a glass turntable that rotates while the microwave is in use; also an interior light. We have had the unit installed now for about a week. Using it to warm, melt and "steam" vegetables with satisfactory results. Being "enclosed" it is quiet when in use. A few words about the "trim kit." It is an example of "one size does not fit all!" It included a "stabilizing" fixture for the back of the microwave. We chose NOT to use this item as it was impossible to "plumb" the microwave. Due to a prominent downward tilt from front to back. We chose instead to use some "hardwood" shims at the back corners of the microwave. Three wood screws (provided) hold the front of the microwave in place. The duct-work for ventilation is larger than on the previous unit. However, at some point a human had stepped on one of the pieces, leaving behind his foot-print; classy, NOT! Oddly enough, the holes in the metal framework matched perfectly with the original installation. Too bad the size of the opening for the microwave door was different. probably could have saved a few dollars. I would give this microwave an initial 3 1/2 stars out of five. The balance depend on durability and ease of resolving any future maintenance issues. We did buy an extended warranty for this unit.

My son needed a new Microwave. We had just had our kitchen remodeled and this is what we had decided to get. We loved it so much we decided to give one to our son for his birthday. He loves it as much as we do.
