Product Description

This induction cooktop is so responsive that it can quickly go from boil to simmer. Sleek, integrated touch-activated electronic controls offer nine heat-level settings from keep warm to performance boost, allowing heat to be adjusted instantly with precision similar to gas cooktops. The 9 heat-level settings provide various levels of heat to achieve precise temperatures for optimal cooking results. Hot surface indicator light provides a clear indication that a surface is too warm to touch. This cooktop can not be installed over an oven.

This review is from: KitchenAid Architect Series II KICU508SBL 30 Induction Cooktop - Black
I have the Kitchenaid 30" induction with bridge burner, but they all work the same, and you should be warned. KA induction cooktops click when they operate at low or moderate temps. It's the "burners" turning on and off to maintain the lower temp. They also buzz or hum when they are working. So at lower temps, you get click-buzz-pause, click-buzz-pause, about 20 times a minute. At higher temps you get just the buzz, which is less annoying, then on boost the buzzing gets louder. The noise is not faint; I can hear it from the next room. Do not buy Kitchenaid induction unless you are not particularly sensitive to repetitive noises or you have a loud hood operating while you cook. If you can hear one in operation, you can judge for yourself if it will bother you. It does cook well and heat up quickly, like all induction, and it's pretty. But most induction cooktops are not this noisy. I wish I had sprung for a different one.
