I just bought this recently from this seller for about $50 less. Really nice microwave - has so much power that I find I need to reduce the power level for lots of things and if I don't, the time is greatly reduced. Burned popcorn almost immediately at high heat.

Very tough, very sleek looking, but huge. Keep in mind when buying to have a large space for it. It doesn't bother me, but my husband thinks it is too big and we have a large kitchen with lots of counter space.

I've owned this Kitchenaid microwave for about 2 years and use it very lightly (about 1x per week). It's needed repairs twice already related to the keypad controls and electronics (bad switches). In the case of the bad switch, the microwave froze during operation and would only turn off if the door was opened. The first repair was covered under warranty and the 2nd repair required a service call and switch replacement costing me over $160. I would not recommend buying this Kitchenaid microwave due to poor reliability and I am personally not buying any Kitchenaid products in the future.

This unit was a replacement for the 10 year identical unit that came with my home. Installation was a 10 minute breeze since it had identical dimensions to the older unit. I've been using it daily for the past 2 years now, and its doing just great. High power and easy clean up when some of liquids get agressive.

Bought this microwave 2/2011. Quit working in 8/2011. The item had a 1-Year warranty so I proceeded to have it fixed. Have had I believe EVERY electrical part replaced and the service repairman out 9 times trying to fix it!! Not lying to you folks! Customer service will not even consider replacing...STAY AWAY FROM KitchenAid!! As of today 4/23/2012 it is still not working!! I can buy another microwave but I spent over $500 for this one and also bought the trim kit for it!! It had only worked properly for the first 6 months!!

I have had one of these units for about four years and it is well out of its one year warranty. While it worked, I was happy with it.

Last night the door release mechanism broke so I had to use a screwdriver to force the door open before throwing it away. I replaced it with a unit I bought at Sears for one fourth the price - probably less than the repair of the four year old failed unit. If the Sears one breaks, no problem. I got a three year extended waranty and the total was still about one third the price of this unit.

While I understand nothing works forever, at this price, I do not believe the unit should have failed in this way so soon. I suspect, but do not know, the door release mechanism that failed is plastic. If so, it certainly worked in my case though I would consider this an unforgivable planned-obsolescence design.

I personally will never buy any KitchenAid product again. Do yourself a favor and shop around. Maybe you will find something that costs one fourth as much and lasts half as long - saving you half the price when it fails.

We bought this microwave 14 months ago, and it has already completely stopped working! We could not even get the display lights to work. The repairman said it was going to be $195 to get the circuit board and to cover his fees for driving out here - NO THANKS! We are looking for another microwave! (And, the reviewer talking about his burnt popcorn is correct. It was too hot for ours, too, if we did not adjust the power level.)

We purchased this item in July of 2011. Just over one year later in September of 2012 (out of warranty by the way) we started experiencing issues with the unit just turning itself off even though it was not yet finished cooking. You have to hit the start button again maybe two to three times before the cooking was complete. A telephone call to Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool was a joke. The customer rep. said we should have purchased an extended warranty. Now more and more reviews are coming out that the electronics don't work a flip on this unit. We are extremely disappointed of the quality and customer service that we received when buying this microwave.
