I love my Kitchenaid fridge. I use the produce drawer a lot, which saves on energy use because I don't open the doors for the frequent use items like fruits, vegies, yogurt, canned cat food, and probiotic vitamins. Plenty of space in the French door compartment, and the freezer drawer is huge. Never short on ice. I have had this fridge for six months with no issues. I've never noticed excess noise. The person who wrote the bad review must've gotten one with a problem because this fridge is not noisy by nature. Hardware can and does come from the factory flawed now and then - it seems like if the buyer wasn't happy he could return it or have it fixed. This is a good looking appliance, too.

This fridge was purchased 9 months ago and the ice maker has already broken. A sears technician came out (had to miss work) to repair it and deemed it UNrepairable due to a manufacturer's defect. The sears technician filed their report with #whirlpool (who owns #kitchenaid) and whirlpool claimed we would have to have a second opinion come out and take a look (day 2 of missed work). Of course, the part that whirlpool ASSURED US would be overnighted to us in time for the second opinion service man didn't come and so we had to schedule ANOTHER appointment. The third appointment window had to be a 9 HOUR WINDOW. I am told that if the second opinion can't fix it, he then pushes it up to a team of senior technicians to see if they can fix it and then if that senior team can't fix it the issue is sent to a review board to try and fix it. My question is, at what point and how many days must be taken off work for the company to realize we aren't trying to scam them, our fridge is REALLY broken, and it should be replaced. Whirlpool customer service is horrible and they DO NOT stand behind their products. I have been lied to numerous times by their supervisors (who, by the way, have no one else you can speak to above them). I would NEVER recommend that anyone purchase from whirlpool. Sure, the fridge was great until it broke but who wants to spend this much money on a broken fridge? Do yourself a favor, if you're going to invest in a high quality fridge, look at another company. We are now three weeks with a broken ice maker and there is no end in sight. It's infuriating.

I have had this refridgerator for six weeks. Two sound modules have gone out.(The alarm for the door).
The front has rust streaks on the bottom drawer and both upper doors.
Kitchen aid denies any responsiblility for the rust as " cosmetics are only covered for the first 30 days."
What a disappointment this is, a huge waste of money.
As far as "stainless" goes- good quality stainless steel will not hold a magnet. Magnets do stick.
This is a poor excuse for a refridgerator for a lot of money.

BAD DEAL

I purchased mine at Sears Outlet - scratch and dent for $1000.00. Folks, this is the way to buy appliances in my opinion. Mine has a dent in the side that doesn't show because it's recessed. Big deal...a dent at the bottom about 4 inches long hidden away.

Anyway, on to the good stuff. The produce drawer is great. The shelving on the left side of the door is wasteful. It's one of those things where you look at it sideways and use your imagination...I use it to stash sticks of butter. The frig is roomy. The water filter replacement is handy and easy to do. Never seems to run out of ice. The freezer is deep and holds a lot of items.

I've not had the experience with the noise but it does sound like a fax machine whenever it fills the ice trays. It's humorous actually...the frig sounds like a fax is coming through at any moment. That's only a couple of seconds so it's no big deal.

For $1000 at the Sears Outlet center I am more than satisfied.

I purchased my Kitchenaide fridge (KFXS25RYMS2) on 4/16/12, and have had more than my share of problems with it since then.

1. First the left door quit closing all the way shut. Need to apply pressure to close it all the way now. Previously it would close all the way on it’s own.
2. The unit tends to get very loud at times, can hear it over the TV in the living room.
3. The icemaker only makes a very small amount of ice before it stops, so there is never enough to fill a few glasses, or the little I use in the container to make smoothies.
4. A few months ago it started leaking water on the floor around the bottom freezer drawer, and the area under the drawer (in the freezer) freezes into a large sheet of ice. I have defrosted the fridge, wiped it completly dry, then let it sit for two days to make sure it is fully defrosted and completely dry inside and out.
5. A few weeks later it is leaking water again, and the sheet of ice is back.
6. Last night I cleaned out the sheet of ice, wiped it dry as best I could, and turned off the water supply to the icemaker and water dispenser (in case that was responsible for the water leak).
7. This morning there was still a puddle of water under the freezer drawer, and a sheet of ice starting to form inside under the drawer. It looks like the water is dripping into the fridge from the back area where the vents to the motor are located.
8. I have emailed and called Kitchenaide support several times with zero help provided.
9. Have talked to the local repair shop more than a few times about the problems, and today am waiting for them to call me back to address the problem.
10. I still have no idea where the water is coming from, and so far neither does anyone else.
11.
