My wife and I received this pasta drying rack as a wedding gift along with various other KitchenAid products. If we hadn't have received it as a gift, I would have bought it and considered it $40 well spent.

The pasta rack is well designed and easy to deploy and pack up for storage. When you open it from the package all of the hanging rods are aligned with each other. Turn the black wheel at the top of the drying rack about one full turn and all of the hanging rods space themselves out evenly (see product picture). No need to position each hanging rod by hand, which would be a very tedious chore. Pull each of the feet down and then lift up on the ends to lock them in place.

Craftily designed to be stored in the top of the drying rack is a "transfer rod" which conforms to the hanging rods to allow you to transfer the pasta to each hanging rod. What we do is cut the pasta through our KitchenAid pasta plate running off the stand mixer and just before the pasta is nearly finished being cut, slide the transfer rod from one side of the pasta as it's hanging from the cutter plate to the other and then the pasta is now hanging from the rod. We then place the transfer rod on top of one of the hanging rods, twist the transfer rod 180 degrees and now the pasta is hanging from the drying rack.

The pasta rack easily held the amount of pasta produced by using the recipe in the KitchenAid pasta plate owners manual, which is suppose to yield 1-1/2 pounds of dough. Maybe a bit more room for pasta, but definitely not enough room for a full second batch.

The pasta rack is very stable and is made of stainless steel tube for the center column and legs. The bottom base is made of plastic along with the hanging rods, transfer rod, and turning wheel at the top. All the surfaces are very smooth and easy to clean with just a damp rag.

The pasta drying rack is made in Italy.

I love making pasta at home. The KitchenAid Pasta Drying Rack is a great tool for those who have had to put up with drying pasta on a counter, inundated with flour to keep it from forming an unedible blob. Unique features like the Pasta wand is a big plus. It is concaved so you can run the pasta over the rungs of the dryer to gently place the pasta. The rungs can be dispersed using the top handle. The rungs open with plenty of disatnce between each other (good job). The legs retract against the length of the drying rack, but the leg tubes don't seem to be very strong. I could see someone, retractng the legs, and bending them in the process.

The biggest issue: It is not high enough. Pasta on the lower rungs have to be cut shorter or allowed to bunch up on the table. Overall, very satisfied.

This pasta dryer is great! It's compact and durable. I kept it's original box to store it in. I dried a whole lot of pasta in a small space. Great companion to the KitchenAid pasta maker.

This is a delightful addition to our kitchen. Cleverly designed, it collapses for storage. Its legs are sturdy and the drying arms spread out conveniently for lots of drying space. The wand included to transfer the pasta works perfectly and has its own storage slot inside the rack. The overall look when not in use is so attractive, I think it belongs in a museum of modern art. I'm hoping it's sturdy enough to last for years, because I love our pasta rack!

I think I hung about 3 pounds of homemade pasta on this at one time, neat and orderly and the sturdy construction, perfect spacing of the spokes, and the VERY thoughtful and handy tool to slip to pasta onto/off of the rods makes this an amazingly simple yet elegant and high quality HANDY tool for the homemade pasta chef. Kudos to KitchenAid again!

I started making homemade pasta this last year so getting a pasta dryer was a no brainer. I wound up going with KitchenAid simply because everything else I own for pasta making is from KitchenAid (we use a KitchenAid Mixer with the pasta attachments). Anyways, I immediately fell in love with this hanger as I absolutely love how it break down for storage. Its stores almost completely flat as all of the hangers align in the same direction and the legs fold up. As someone that doesn't have a ton of kitchen space, I really appreciate kitchen products that are designed to save space and in all honesty, this is one of the best designs I have come across yet in this regard. To use it you simply fold down the legs and give the main center column a spin and all of the individual hangers symmetrically twist apart around the center column. Its a very simple design that works amazingly well. The best part about this hanger is the sheer number of hangers. I have made large batches of pasta and have never used more than 50% of the hangers available. On top of that the quality is top notch. I have no doubt that this hanger will be with me for a very long time.

If your looking for a pasta dryer then you should definitely give this a look, especially if storage space is an issue.

Highly Recommended!

This product is a convenient tool for drying pasta. I assembled it in minutes, hung plenty of pasta on it, the rack was reasonably stable, and hand washing the arms was not that difficult since they consist of a smooth plastic. I looked at several alternatives before buying this one and didn't see anything else that came close in terms of hanging volume, convenience, and materials.
