5.0 out of 5 stars received as a Christmas present
My son collects knives, is knowledgeable about knives so when I told him I wanted a set of kitchen knives for Christmas, he was careful what set he bought. He was looking for full tang, forged steel that could easily be sharpened so he didn't want a lot of serated blades. This Kitchen Aid set is what he bought me. I love it. 1.0 out of 5 stars Dull and thin blades
Just tried these knives and could not believe the non-quality. I tried to use them and the knives got stuck in middle of an apple and potatoe, had to to back to the using a cheap ten year old set I had, the blades on these knives are thin, bend and extremely dull, dangerous to use dull knives.

He was looking for full tang, forged steel that could easily be sharpened so he didn't want a lot of serated blades. This Kitchen Aid set is what he bought me. I love it. The separate block for the steak knives can be set on the table during dinner. The knives are well balanced and easy to use. I don't know anything about knives. With these, I don't need to.

This is an excellent cutlery set for the price. I didn't need the steak knives but for the price I'll take them as freebies.
The one bad rating that I saw seems odd to me since I was able to cut through the breastbone of a full size turkey breast with the large chef knife the other day - there was no bending. "the right tool for the right job" is a sound idea.
The only tiny problem I have was that there is nowhere to put the bonus Santoku knife they sent with the set.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Chefs Choice, September 9, 2008
This review is from: KitchenAid Cooks Series 14-Piece Cutlery Block Set with Bonus Santoku Knife (Kitchen)
This set of knives is great for any kitchen, I am a professional chef and I needed a new set for my kitchen. Of course I have my expensive set that I use for work but I also needed a good set for my home. Since I did not want to splurge for the Wusthoff set which was way too much I found this and they are fantastic. They rust a bit if you put them in the dishwasher but its worth it to hand wash them. The steak knives are great also, and the set is nice looking as well. You definitely get your moneys worth. I am very pleased.

This is a great cutlery set - lots of versatile pieces of cutlery, one for each kitchen task plus steak knives!
I love this set - my favorite piece is the santoku knife, perfect for slicing most everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Set, May 27, 2008
This review is from: KitchenAid Cooks Series 14-Piece Cutlery Block Set with Bonus Santoku Knife (Kitchen)
I have all Kitchen Aid products in my kitchen and this new cutlery set is a great addiiton. The bonus santoku knife is the one I use the most. All the knives have a wonderful balance and are easy to care for. The best part of the set are the kitchen shears. Now I can actually find my shears when I am looking for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible deal!, July 30, 2008
This review is from: KitchenAid Cooks Series 14-Piece Cutlery Block Set with Bonus Santoku Knife (Kitchen)
These knives are very high quality. I had purchased and discarded another knife set, and was concerned that this deal might be too good to be true. Wrong! The knives are well-made, sharp, easy to handle & great looking, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality product, September 30, 2008

I have always been impressed with rubbermaid and kitchenaid products. They are sturdy, affordable, stylish and reliable. This product is all of those things. They aren't the type of product where you jump out of your shoes saying "wow I had no idea knives could be that great!", but they are a fantastically high value product in many respects.
