5.0 out of 5 stars Great set, super price!, October 7, 2003

This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard-Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I received this set today and put it to work right away! Straight out of the box, I was impressed with the professional quality of this cookware. These are sturdy pots and pans with wonderful heavy glass lids that I should never have to replace. I chose this set for five reasons: 1)It had three saucepans, a 10" skillet and a 12" skillet. If you have a large family, this is a must. 2)The hard anodized non-stick coating has a lifetime warranty. 3)Glass lids allow me to monitor what I'm cooking without lifting the lid. 4)KitchenAid brand--the quality speaks for itself. If you don't have a KitchenAid stand mixer, I can't recommend it highly enough. 5) Amazon offers this set at a great price and FREE shipping. Can't beat it.
That said--a couple of items worth noting that aren't mentioned in the description:
This set is not dishwasher safe, but that really isn't a problem since nothing sticks to it. It cleans up very easily. When storing these pots and pans, place a towel between items to prevent scratching.
This is a great set and I look forward to using it for many, many years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cookware! Better than Calphalon!, May 5, 2005
This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard-Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I never write reviews, but this set has inspired me. It looks great, heats up fast, cooks evenly, and is the best non-stick I've ever used. I've just ordered a second set for my summer home. The set offers an excellent range of cookware. (The only thing I've added is an 8" skillet.) I'm surprised to discover that I don't mind washing it by hand, since it's so easy to wash (one swipe, which I used to have to do before I put my old pots in the dishwasher). The stay-cool rubber handles are great: coolness without looking cheap. The glass lids are also wonderful: nice for seeing what's in the pot and very easy to clean. I used to have Calphalon, and it quickly became discolored, got things permanently stuck to it, began to look terrible (I finally gave it away). I thought seriously about Le Creuset, but finally decided against it (cost, weight, not really non-stick) and am glad I did. Caveat: I'm not an extremely refined cook, so have no idea how well this would perform in very high-end cooking, but I'm *very* happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!, September 27, 2005
This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard-Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
It's so nice to have cookware that does what it's suppose to do. I've had no probs with it. I love the fact that I can cook 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts at one time in the 12" skillet with absolutely NO sticking, and clean-up is a breeze. I haven't tried it in the oven yet but stovetop cooking with it is a breeze. It cooks rice perfectly which is one of the main reasons I purchased it because I previously had Revere SS cookware that rice stuck to every time. I do recommend only using the silicon heat-resistant tools with this cookware as the SS utensils tend to mark the bottom if you're trying to stir or serve something in them. I can't say enough good things about this cookware. It's absolutely THE BEST set I've ever owned and look forward to years of cooking with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Cookware!, January 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard-Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
When I purchased my Kitchenaid glass top stove, I received 2 free Kitchenaid skillets. Ever since I received those, I had wanted a complete set of Kitchenaid cookware. I had seen Kitchenaid cookware on sale at a couple of local department stores. I purchased a set of the ceramic bottomed cookware from one of those retailers. After removing it from the box and washing it, I was reading the care instructions. It stated that it should not be used on glass top stoves. (Information that would have been usefully on the outside of the box not the last few lines of the instruction manual!) I struggled, but managed to return the items to the box and returned it to the store.

After researching the proper cookware for my stove, I set out to find the hard-anodized cookware at a good price. Of course, Amazon came through for me! I found this 11 piece cookware set on sale for $139 with a $25 instant discount plus free shipping. I couldn't believe such a good deal. I expected it to be "seconds" and blemished, but just the opposite was true. It was much nicer than the cookware that I had previously bought and easily on the levels of Emeril and Calphalon cookware.

The 3 sauce pans are a nice size and all come with glass lids. The stock pot is great for cooking soups or boiling pasta or potatoes. The 12" skillet is big enough to fry your beef and then add pasta sauce for a delicious spaghetti sauce. The smaller 10" skillet is great for grilled cheese sandwiches and frying eggs. The handles have grips for easy handling. The outside of the pans are tough and spills easily removed. The non-stick insides make for even cooking and clean up is a breeze. I must add that this cookware must be washed by hand and not placed in the dishwasher. Also metal utensils are to be avoided, and you shouldn't use above the mid-high heat level.

I have had this cookware for 3 months, and I love it each time I use it. My only regret is that I didn't buy a set for my mom!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Yourself AND your Children a KitchenAid Hard Anodized Cookware set., December 9, 2006
By
Toni T. "AboveAstar" (Council Bluffs / Omaha) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard-Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
After a broken shoulder and crushed muscles left me too weak to lift or scrub my wonderful, heavy, thick-bottomed stainless steel cookware set, we tried out a KitchenAid and a Calphalon hard anodized pan. We then purchased this awesome KitchenAid set because of the silicone handle advantage and because, as a former kitchen designer, I knew that for several decades KitchenAid had made the best dishwasher and mixer on the market. I loved that the non-stick properties of this set allowed me to now cook without any oils (healthier). There was only a minimal adjustment or learning curve from my high-temp tolerant stainless set, I only had to reduced or fluctuate temperatures slightly. The pain and strain of pre-washing/scrubbing my stainless pans was replaces with a few seconds of effortless swiping, even after my son baked sticky caramel rolls in the large skillet! Thanks to the silicone handles I no longer needed to reach for a pot holder before touching the handles (except for oven baking, which will always require pot holders). This set also has clear glass lids, which I consider an essential necessity in cookware. The cooking performance of this set has been so outstanding that I don't intend to go back to my stainless steel set after my shoulder and arm heals.

Also, knowing that our 3 `flying the nest' children have had trouble learning to cook on the thin, affordable cookware that they could afford (all 3 were constantly burning their food), and their inexpensive sets have been a waste of money because their cheap cookware sets only last about a year; we took advantage of the outstanding Amazon discounts and bought the KitchenAid 12 piece hard anodized sets for them. They love their Kitchenaid hard anodized cookware as much as we do. With better cookware they are cooking successfully and are also saving themselves a lot of money by eating healthier, home cooked meals and they won't waste even more money by repeatedly replacing poor quality cookware.

What I have learned is this: 1) Hard anodized cookware is better for reducing carpo-tunnel, arthritis and other body strain risks while still allowing cooks to sear meats and perform almost all other higher temp cooking tasks 2) YOUNG ADULTS WILL LEARN TO COOK AND THEY'LL SAVE THEMSELVES A LOT OF MONEY WITH THE GIFT OF A GOOD COOKWARE SET 3) cheap cookware is, more often than not, a waste of money in many ways. 4) With this outstanding line of cookware KitchenAid has again proven themselves to be dedicated to providing top quality products to cooking enthusiasts at less than top dollar prices!!

I bought this same set at Target nearly 2 years ago. It is perfect! It still cooks as good as the first day I bought it. I didn't read the box stating "handwash recommended". I have put my set in the dishwasher from day one and I have had no problems with it. However, the outside is slightly discolored, obviously from the dishwasher. I do not display my cookware, it stays underneath the cabinet so the discoloration doesn't bother me. Had I known it had to be handwashed I probably wouldn't have bought it. Thank goodness I didn't read the box because this is great cookware.

Chefs by and large may not like non-stick cookware, but I'm your basic boil this, bake that cook, and I greatly appreciate easy clean up! This set looks smart, cleans like a dream, and heats evenly. The handles stay cool and the lids fit well. It all works for me.

This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Hard-Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I had been watching, reading and pricing cookware sets to replace my worn-out stuff I'd been using since the 70's. After seeing the KitchenAid set and reading good reviews about it, this cookware became my preferred choice. I purchased this set from Amazon because of its fantastic price. And, I couldn't be happier with it. Nothing sticks to it, so cleanup is a breeze. I will not be putting it in the dishwasher because I want to protect its surface. I also store it with bubble wrap between pans.

The surprising benefit to this cookware is that its heavy, flat pan bottoms conduct heat so well that I have to turn the cooking temperature down to avoid burning food. I have a ceramic top range, and it works beautifully. Best of all, there are open stock pieces to add to this set from both Amazon all over the Internet.
