5.0 out of 5 stars Simply amazing, can't be beat
Such value for money here, no need to spend 3-4x as much on All-Clad...these are just as heavy and put together just as well. I'm glad I could never get myself to drop the $$$ on the other companies product. I expected them to be nice from reading the Consumer Reports piece but I was blown away by this set.

This IS the set to buy, don't get a nonstick...

My wife and I decided to change from the non-stick type cookware to a stainless steel brand and after reading all of the excellent reviews on this cookware from others that had purchased and used it, ordered this set. In most of the reviews, the only problem that people had to report on was that the skillet's weren't very good for cooking eggs and sticking occurred most...

This IS the set to buy, don't get a nonstick set...from experience. Even the best coatings wear off over time, you can't use metal whisks in them, and who really needs a nonstick stock pot?

You don't need nonstick for most cooking, you will get better browning and pan sauces from a regular pan, yes you need nonstick for eggs and pancakes but you can always buy a matching nonstick skillet to go with these and still wind up spending much less.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Expected, March 20, 2007

I usually like to see and feel things before buying them online, but I took a gamble this time based on review here and elsewhere and it paid off. I could not find this set in any store locally. This set is MUCH better than I expected it to be. The pans are Heavy, (but thats a quality heavy not a too "heavy" to lift) and compared to a stainless Farberware set I've bought in the past, I think I will like this set even more. It seems to be built to last (my $100.00 Farberware set is 14 years old). I like the fact that you can put these (frying pans) in the oven without too much worry on "melting" the handles. I like the way the covers fit on the pots as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Essentials -- A Real Essential for Your Kitchen, May 17, 2007

I received my KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials set this week, and I am thrilled! The first thing I noticed was the perfect weight of the pans . . . then I decided to put the small skillet to the ultimate test . . . scrambled eggs! Honestly, I expected them to stick like glue to the pan. I sprayed first with a non-stick spray, added a teaspoon of butter (like always), and cooked the most perfect eggs ever. This skillet worked better than the teflon coated pans I have used in the past, and the clean-up was a breeze. I was convinced to buy this set when I saw the high ratings the set received from Consumer Reports, and ALL the reviews I read gave this set an A. I"ll give it an A+!

I was replacing sturdy 40 year-old pots and pans with reluctance. This set is even better and likely to outlive me by far! Finish is so smooth I just swish it out to clean - no dishwasher needed. I like the cool handles and the fact I can use it in the oven to 400 degrees. Very pleased and recommend highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product, February 23, 2007

This set came highly recommended by Consumers Report so I gave it a shot. So far, it is living up to expectations. I like the cooking quality, weight (very solid), appearance (sleek) and durability. I've had this set for a few months now and absolutely love it.

BTW, there appeared to be some tarnish after the first use of the frying pan so I initially rated this 4 stars, but it turned out to be a thin film of oil that came off on its own after the third wash. I'd change my rating to 5 stars, but the scale appears to be locked down.

Vinegar will easily get rid of those "stains" that some of the reviewers have mentioned. So will a good (and non-scratch) powder scrub like Barkeepers Friend.

I've had the same set of Cuisinart pots and pans for 20 years; vinegar and Barkeepers Friend have helped me to keep them in good shape.

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Pots & Pans Set, January 30, 2007

This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Brushed Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
Ordered this set because I wanted to change out some of my old pots & pans. I also did my homework and found out, that this product was rated very high in the consumer reports ratings. I chose a stainless steel cookware because of sanitation, safety, and durability after many washings. After trying it, I am very pleased. After cooking meats the first time in the frying pan, the surface had a splotchy look even after scrubbing and washing. I was not sure why this happened. However, to solve this, I used a metal cream cleaner and it came out like brand new. I would not recommend using anything very abrasive. No problem on the cleaning. It was very easy to me. The cooking was very evenly heated and all of my foods came out very good.

My wife and I decided to change from the non-stick type cookware to a stainless steel brand and after reading all of the excellent reviews on this cookware from others that had purchased and used it, ordered this set. In most of the reviews, the only problem that people had to report on was that the skillet's weren't very good for cooking eggs and sticking occurred most of the time. We found that to be true the first time we trying frying eggs in the pans, even though we used plenty of oil, butter and non-stick spray. The rest of the set has turned out to be an excellent selection and are working great, IF we use the cleaner that most reviewer's recommended, which was "Bar Keepers Friend!" If you will notice, the title of my review was SHOP AROUND. At Amazon, after the final total was accepted and processed, it amounted to $219.00. Just this week at Coles Department Store in Knoxville, Tn., the same set was on sale for $169.00, after a rebate of $30.00. We are using a brand name non-stick skillet now to overcome the egg sticking problem, other than that and the price difference, all is well. Good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cookware set, March 6, 2007
This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials Brushed Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I decided to buy a stainless steel cookware set after my nonstick pans started losing their coating after only a few months of use. I decided on this set because it was recommended by consumer reports. I've had these pans for 6 months now and I love them. They heat evenly and food doesn't stick if you use a little oil and let foods like meat cook awhile before flipping. They are also easy to clean.

We recently purchased this cookware and have been using it for about a month. The cookware is great. It is heavy-weight, but not so heavy that you can't handle it easily. I highly recommend it and would definitely buy it again.
