5.0 out of 5 stars Great KitchenAid Pan
My wife and I purchased this a few weeks ago to replace a similar pan that was teflon coated. We were concerned about the difficulty of cleaning it well, but it is great. We love how evenly it cooks and heats quickly. It is very easy to clean after a quick soak. I highly recommend it and would buy this pan again if I had it to do over.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great saute pan - poor handle
This saute pan was my first foray into "quality" cookware. I looked over all of the specs and this pan was a good value.

I am VERY pleased with the even heating characteristics, no hot spots. The 4.75 Qt size is JUST RIGHT (anything larger would tie up another burner on my stove) and cleanup is NOT a problem... a little Bar Keepers friend and it still looks...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful pan -- holds heat forever!, May 6, 2007

I have a set of the Gourmet Distinctions line. My only complaint is that the set came with only two small skillets.
So I purchased this saute pan, which is wonderful. It distributes the heat very well across the bottom of the pan. It holds the heat forever because of the thick bottom. And it cleans up great. We use it all the time.
My mother-in-law, who just purchased an uber-expensive All Clad set, was impressed with this great pan as well.

Of all the stainless steel products I have purchased, this is one of the best. It is the 2nd piece of KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions cookware I have purchased and am totally satisfied with both. It conducts heat evenly and a satisfaction to cook with. Yes, I have no reservations recommending this product.

I am quite DISAPPOINTED with the handle. I'm a fairly strong guy, but the ergonomics of the straight, thin and rounded handle make it difficult to maneuver this pan with one hand. It is impossible to pour without using the helper handle, making me wish I had a third hand for the spatula.

Would I buy this item again? Probably not. I DID learn an important lesson about online shopping: sometimes there is NO substitute for seeing and handling the item yourself. Five minutes at the kitchen store was all it took to find out why some "little" things (like the handles on Calphalon cookware) may be worth a couple extra bucks.

I love this pan! The thick base with copper gets it hot really quick and holds the heat very long. It's roomy, has a helper handle, you can fry/saute your chicken with vegies, deglaze it, and then put the pan into the oven to finish. The cover sits very tight. The cleaning is very easy - just fill pan with hot water with some soap and in few minutes - it's completely clean. Overall it's becoming one of my favorite pan.

KitchenAid Gourmet Distictions Stainless Steel cookware is professional cookware designed to look sharp in anyones kitchen. This cookware can be used on any type of cook top. It does its job without hot spots - just nice even heating for any type of food preparation. Looking for a greater varity of pieces to fill out this line of cookware in the future.

I have used more expensive pans, but they don't stay flat. This one seems to hold out. Maybe it is the bottom cladding. The ones that are completely cladded up the sides seem to warp easily. Lost one star because it is only 11 inches. Wish they made a wider one. The bottom can be a little thinner too, to make it lighter. The copper holds heat very well.

I had purchased the 10-piece KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions set for my induction stove. Am so happy with the quality of the set for the small price that I decided to add the Covered Saute Pan to the set. This piece is of good weight, cooks evenly and cleans easily. I only wish the line had a few more pieces.

I own and frequently use the full set of KitchenAid Distinctions cookware, and this is my favorite piece to use. It holds plenty of food and heats very evenly. I have yet to get anything stuck or burned on that I couldn't clean with soapy water and occasionally a copper scrubbing pad.

I absolutely love this pan. Having bought the Gourmet Distinctions set I really found it to be lacking. When looking into what other open stock options were available I came across this pan. Bought it when it was on sale and have been loving it ever since. Very versatile, allows you to fry without splatter, make sauces and other recipes you'd normally have to make in a large pot. Quite frankly the best cooking vessel I've ever bought. I'd give up all my pans and pots for this one. If you're giving a gift to a kid going away to college. All they'd need is this one pan.

The only improvement I'd make to it is to have a steam vent in the glass lid. Or an option to buy one as a add-on. Quite heavy, so the helper handle is of use. A definite match is a splatter mesh, Ikea for 10$.

I've been throwing it in the oven at 500f. Then onto of the stove at high. searing the steak. and then back into the oven on low for a few more min.
