Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Heat water for soothing peppermint tea or for a hot water bottle to ease aches and pains with this happy teakettle from KitchenAid’s Gourmet Essential line. To signify boiling water, the 2-quart teakettle whistles loudly to demand attention from tea drinkers throughout the house. The kettle’s durable steel construction resists dents and corrosion while providing fast thermal conduction. The colorful porcelain-enameled exterior resists chipping and is nonstick for easy cleaning. Tea drinkers remove the kettle from the burner by holding the spacious 18/10 stainless-steel handle, securely riveted to the kettle. The handle’s silicone rubber accents stay cool to the touch while affording a comfortable grip. Lifting a small lever at the front of the handle opens the kettle’s spout for pouring hot water. Users refill the kettle by removing the stainless-steel lid by its loop handle. The kettle is oven- safe up to 400 degrees F. For the best care, wash the kettle by hand and avoid abrasives that might scratch the enamel. A replacement warranty covers the Thailand-manufactured kettle. The teakettle measures 8-1/2 by 8-1/2 by 10 inches and weighs 4 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty and temperamental, February 19, 2007

This good looking accessory comes with some instructions if you would actually like to use it for its intended purpose. If you are used to filling your kettle through the spout; forget it. You will have to remove the tight fitting lid to fill 'r up. And please listen to your mom and don't watch this pot, because it may never boil.

She does let you know when the water finally boils, with more of a shriek than a whistle, and when you're ready to tip her over and pour her out, make sure not to hold the cup you're pouring in to, because the aim is not so precise. Even after two months of practise, I still spill the water...

If you are willing to deal with the short comings, this KitchenAid quality kettle will be a great conversation piece. If you just want to boil some water; this one's not for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice tea kettle, December 14, 2007

I really like this tea kettle, color is lovely. The mechinism for opening the spout is not the most modern but it works. And the Kettle seems hardy.
