2.0 out of 5 stars Both Pans Warped within 6 months
We've had a double burner Calphon non-stick for several years that has been awesome - a staple of our home for searing steaks, Saturday morning bacon and eggs - you name it. The pan is still like-new. We recently moved into a new home that came with a glass/flat-top stove. We are not fans for several reasons, one of which was that it made it more challenging to cook with...

Perfect for the Weekend morning family breakfast. Family of 7 tested. From bacon to pancakes to eggs to sausage - no stick and absoltuely no effoty to clean. The griddle covers the burners perfectly and the handles are easy to hold but are configured so the griddle fits a typcial gas range just right. The cheaper griddles tend to warp (after heating) and the expensive ones are usually too big for the standard gas range. Someone at KitchenAid did their homework. This griddle gives you the expensive perfomance (and look) but at a mid range price.

5.0 out of 5 stars great griddle, January 16, 2007
This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Red Double Burner Griddle (Kitchen)
I searched forever to find the right sized griddle for our stovetop gas range. I didn't want a two-sided cast iron "camp griddle", nor did I want a cheap thin one with non-stick surface that fails right away. This was for my wife, who is a great cook, so it needed to be high quality with good heat transfer. This Kitchen Aid griddle is all of that and looks great with the ceramic red exterior. It is simple, flat, with low sides makes it easy to get a spatula under the pancakes close the edge. The handles are low, so it fit under the backsplash of our GE range (I returned a Calphalon version with high handles that didn't fit).

This double burner griddle is the best. It works great with my glass top stove. Your food cooks evenly, does not stick, and clean up is a breeze. Just the name KitchenAid says it all. I would recommend this griddle to anyone.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mine came a bit roughed up, but it's a great griddle, April 20, 2009

Another reviewer mentioned that the griddle came in a cardboard box with only the air cushions to protect it. Mine came in a box with only brown paper packaging, and the box had a large hole in the side where you could see the griddle easily. I've had some questionable packages in my many orders with amazon but this one was easily the worst. As a result, the griddle was a bit banged up-- a few small scratches on the paint.

Disregarding the packaging, I can confirm that the bottom is flat and works on glass top stoves (if you have the bridge element). It is not perfectly flat as there is an embossed logo on the bottom but the recessed depth is inconsequential.

It is relatively light but seems sturdy, which is important to me because although I am gentle with all my cookware I dislike items that feel flimsy.

The package says "Designed in the USA, Made in Taiwan" for those of you who like to know the country of origin.

I bought the KitchenAid Double Burner Griddle to replace a Cuisinart electric griddle that I had for 10yrs. I loved that griddle, but you couldn't put in water to wash it, so it was a bit of a hassle to get clean and food would get stuck in the grooves. I love the KitchenAid Griddle more. It's very sturdy, well made, and easy to clean. I've only used it to make breakfast so far, but that's what I used the other griddle for too. The KitchenAid's smooth surface doesn't allow food to get stuck. I don't have to scrape anything off w/ the spatula and worry about ruining the nonstick surface. It heats food really evenly. I anticipate on owning this baby for many years to come. I would definitely buy another one for myself or a friend.

This a great griddle. Works perfectly on flat top stove with bridge burner. Non-stick surface is wonderful no oil needed, so far nothing has stuck, even eggs cook perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Find! Great Griddle!, February 1, 2009
This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Red Double Burner Griddle (Kitchen)
My husband bought me one for Christmas. Stays flat and feels like it will last! I use this one in the oven too for cooking larger amounts of Bacon so I do not get the cook top so greasy! I loved it so much I came to Amazon to get another so I could do a full pound of Bacon in one shot. The handles get hot is my only complaint but that is why the have pot holders. I see the make a version with cool soft handles but you would only be able to use that on the cook top. Maybe I will buy both versions...have 2 for Bacon...1 for cooking pancakes or eggs. Sunday Breakfast will be a snap! Now if I could only find a good Toaster or Toaster oven :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Both Pans Warped within 6 months, April 3, 2010

We've had a double burner Calphon non-stick for several years that has been awesome - a staple of our home for searing steaks, Saturday morning bacon and eggs - you name it. The pan is still like-new. We recently moved into a new home that came with a glass/flat-top stove. We are not fans for several reasons, one of which was that it made it more challenging to cook with the Calphon since the bottom was not flat - the bottom is convex to fit over the burners and provide channels for grease on the sides. We ordered two of the double burner pans and have treated them in an identical manner to the Calphon that we have used for years. After two weeks one of the pans warped after cooking steaks. Quite frustrating, especially considering the price we paid. Within 6 months, both pans have now warped. We do not have the "burner link" mentioned in several of the reviews. Based on my engineering background, it would not be that difficult to engineer the pan to transfer heat and structural withstand disparate heating from two separated elements - bottom line is that KitchenAid did not do that in this case. Based on other reviews it sounds like the pan works fine in a number of instances, but it did not work with our "non-bridged" flat top cooktop.

This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Red Double Burner Griddle (Kitchen)
This griddle cooks evenly and works great when cooking for a large group. It cleans easily and stores nicely. I am extremely satisfied with the product. I saw the exact same griddle for sale at a specialty store for twice the price. Go Amazon!
