This review is from: KitchenAid Ice Cream Spade, Gray (Kitchen)
I've used dozens of ice cream scoops over the years, & I believe that an ice cream spade works better than an ice cream scoop. The two spades that are the most well constructed are the Kitchen Aide & the Zeroll, & the Kitchen Aide is better for several reasons. First, the spade is somewhat curved on the Kitchen Aide & the Zeroll is not; the Kitchen Aide keeps ice cream from rolling off better than does the Zeroll. Second, the Kitchen Aide is dishwasher safe, the Zeroll isn't (probably due to the liquid contained in it's handle). Third, even though the Zeroll claims to conduct heat from your hand down the handle to "defrost" the ice cream it comes into contact with, this feature doesn't work; in terms of keeping your hand from getting a chill, they both work equally well. Fourth, although they're both expensive, the Kitchen Aide costs half of what the Zeroll does, & it works slightly better. You won't go wrong with either one, but the Kitchen Aide is the better product.
