Best ice cream 'scoop' ever,
By
This review is from: KitchenAid Ice Cream Spade, Red (Kitchen)
This is the best ice cream scoop ever (well, "spade"). I've had mine for 2 years now (black version). No matter how cold or hard the icecream/yogurt is, the spade cuts right through. I considered getting the type that has anti-freeze type liquid which supposedly helps. I'm so glad that I got this Kitchen Aid spade - it works far better than any other scoop that I've tried. The handle is perfect as well, and the whole thing is well-balanced.
My mother-in-law has the Kitchen Aid "scoop" version. It's good, but I'd give it 4 stars. If you must have round ice cream balls for an ice cream cone, then you could get that, however the spade works much better for scooping ice cream, cutting through easily and scooping plenty. You could still make a "ball" if you really wanted to with the spade. Definitely 5+ stars. I'd pay twice as much for it if required.

How much can you say about an ice cream scoop right? Well not that much other than to say this thing works GREAT! I mean really really great. It weighs about a ton and it cuts through the most rock solid dairy product like it was made of Kryptonite. And it cleans up so easy. Just a quick rinse and its back in the draw ready to go. Is it more expensive then a regular scoop? Maybe. But for my money it pays back in spades every time I use it.

A must for every kitchen!,

I can't say enough about this spade/spoon/scoop, whatever you want to call it! This does it all and stands up to the toughest dough and hardest ice cream. The handle feels thick and sturdy so you don't ever have to worry about it busting like so many others tend to do when put up against a tough task. I use it for everything and bought an extra one just to have around because it seems like my first one was always dirty from being used so much!

Over 20 years ago I was introduced to the ice cream spade by a family member--and just recently actually bought one. This spade is sturdy and works amazingly well. My only complaint is that my husband uses its size as an excuse to eat big servings of ice cream--"I only took 2 spades." (Two giganto spades! LOL)

Like my title states, it is coveted by everyone who tries it. I first used one at my sister in law's house and really liked it. The next time I was there, she told me that some weekend guests had recently used it there and loved it. It "mysteriously" disappeared at the same time they went back home and she was needing to replace it (they haven't been invited back needless to say). I told her that I was ordering one for me from Amazon and she got one here too, as they are extremely hard to find except in some specialty stores. Well worth the money. It slices down through the hardest frozen ice cream with no difficulty. Highly recommended.

We bought a black one of these (not available - don't know why) in 2004. We love our ice cream and we love this spade. I don't know why there are any other ice cream scoops or spades on the market. This one tops them all. It is so heavy duty that it can be used when the ice cream is very hard. Ours has scratches from begin thrown in the utility drawer so many times but otherwise it is in perfect condition.
Its the best scoop you can buy.

Pretty nice item. It is much flatter than I thought, not really "scoop" type. You end up "squaring" ice cream out instead. I definately would say it is better than one of those scoops that ice cream sticks to and it surely will never bend. I recommend this product...but it was somewhat pricey for its one purpose.

Although this scoop / spade is very sturdy - Its ridiculously large for a single serving (and if frozen hard) and for that- its not practical. If someone owned a ice cream parlor, this spade / scoop would be perfect at filling a quart to "go". (This tool would be my first choice to get softer gallon ice cream packed into quarts).

Look. This just works. It's solid. It's massive and you could probably use it to dig yourself out of an ice cream avalanche - but I digress. If you're using a scooper, your using way too much energy. Get this and save yourself the pain.
