5.0 out of 5 stars No handle on 3 quart bowl
The editorial review of this product states it has a handle. I own this bowl and think it is great, but it does not have a handle like the 4 1/2 quart bowl.

3.0 out of 5 stars disappointed
I love my Kitchenaid mixer but this bowl accessory has some design flaws. Due to the fact that the bowl is shorter than the standard bowl it cannot contain ingredients during high speed mixing. The shorter bowl enables ingredients to fly all over your kitchen. I'll stick with the standard bowl.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like this bowl, January 1, 2001

I like this bowl. I wanted an extra bowl but I do not have much storage space . This bowl will sit right in my large bowl which saves me valuable space. The instructions that comes with the bowl states this is good for small jobs such as whipping a cup of cream etc. I am able to mash 6 small potatoes with out any promblems. If you try to do a larger amount the food will splash out. This is perfect for small jobs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied with this bowl!, February 5, 2007

First off, the mixer looks great sitting out on the counter with this bowl. Just the mixer, the paddle beater, and the 3 qt bowl. Very nice!

The missing handle is a big plus as it saves space and doesn't get in the way. I actually find it easier to get on & off without the handle. The handle is not essential, in fact after using the smaller bowl, you'll find that the handle is more awkward. The real trick to any Kitchenaid Atisan mixing bowl is simple, don't put them on too tight and you won't have trouble getting them off.

I've used the high speed and nothing has flown all over my kitchen. You do have to use some common sense. You do want to mix the eggs and liquids first, and then add the dry ingredients. But I do that with the large bowl too. And of course start out slow, but why wouldn't you?

Yes, a 3 qt bowl is going to have some limitations compared to a 5 qt bowl. It's almost half as big! But unless your making a big batch of something I haven't found it to be a problem. And it's easier to clean.

Quality product + no tax + free shipping = great value! Go for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for small jobs, November 12, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KitchenAid KB3SS 3-Quart Stainless Steel Bowl for Pivot Head Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
I have had my KitchenAid mixer for a number of years. While useful, one aspect of it always bothered me: I couldn't make the dough for just one pizza. The mixer would not properly mix the dough with such a small quantity of flour. I even checked the height adjustment of the mixer head.

This bowl solves that problem. The mixer successfully handles the amount of dough for one pizza. I'm thrilled not to have to make extra dough all the time.

The bowl is a "know your tools" product. If you are making a cake or a couple loaves of bread, use the standard bowl. But for small jobs, this bowl is a help.

The lack of a handle is, in my opinion, a benefit and not a detriment. It allows me to store the bowl inside the standard bowl, and with space at a premium I appreciate that. I don't find removal difficult; I just grab the rim and give it a tug (and I am a small woman - I think it is all in the technique).

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful bowl, but misleading item description, March 14, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: KitchenAid KB3SS 3-Quart Stainless Steel Bowl for Pivot Head Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
This bowl is lovely, but that doesn't fix the fact that it doesn't fit in my Kitchenaid Accolade. The first line under "Features" here on Amazon reads, "Works with any KitchenAid Pivot Head stand mixer", which the Accolade IS (a pivot head mixer). But this bowl does not fit in the base of the mixer, it is to narrow, so it doesn't lock in place. So be sure to check the quart size of your mixer before you purchase this bowl.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect little bowl!, December 1, 2003

I'm so happy I bought this little bowl to have in addition to the 5 quart bowl, it's already gotten lots of use in just the few weeks I've had it. It's a tiny bit difficult to remove from the stand due to the lack of a handle, as other reviewers noted, but I don't mind because not having the handle allows me to store it inside the bigger bowl. Frequently, the smaller bowl is all that's needed and I find myself more inclined to use it for small jobs such as whipping a few egg whites or a small amount of cream or icing. For me, it's one of those "don't know how I got along without it" situations!

4.0 out of 5 stars a space saving spare bowl, April 5, 2003
This review is from: KitchenAid KB3SS 3-Quart Stainless Steel Bowl for Pivot Head Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
This smaller bowl nests inside the original mixer bowl that comes with the 4.5 quart pivot-head kitchenaid mixer, so you can store all of your bowls, and the basic attachments (barely) on the mixer stand without taking up valuable cupboard space.

Unlike the 4.5 quart bowl, this bowl doesn't have a handle, which may matter more than you think when you're twisting the bowl out of the mixer socket. Recipes that tend to "creep up" the mixer bowl sides will also creep right out of this one, so it may not be the best choice for all cooks.

4.0 out of 5 stars For small jobs, May 29, 2003
This review is from: KitchenAid KB3SS 3-Quart Stainless Steel Bowl for Pivot Head Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
This is a nice bowl to have on hand for small jobs. It nests nicely inside the 4.5 quart bowl that comes standard with the mixer.
Pros: space saving, an extra bowl is always worth having, it's KitchenAid, what more can I say?
Cons: no handle (the Amazon review was copied from the 4.5 quart bowl review), too small to do everything without spillage.
For me: not worth it. For extra you can have an extra 4.5 quart bowl. The handle is essential and this bowl doesn't have one. But if you're short on space and would like a bowl for small jobs, this would be a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars JUST THE RIGHT SIZE MIXING BOWL, March 1, 2006
This review is from: KitchenAid KB3SS 3-Quart Stainless Steel Bowl for Pivot Head Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
The bowl arrived in perfect condition and came quicker than expected. I like the size. It is great for mixing smaller amounts. A lot of times the 5 quart bowl that came with the mixer is just too big.
