Product Description

Amazon.com

These covers sit securely over the bowl of a 5-quart KitchenAid stand mixer, so you can store your mixer attachments in the bowl but keep them out of site. Use them, too, to cover cool-rise yeast doughs or leftover cookie batters, mashed potatoes, and more. These clear, lightweight lids make it easy to keep extras in the fridge. Dishwasher-safe, but only on the top rack. --Betsy Danheim

Product Description

Kitchenaid's KBC5N Bowl Covers come in handy for a variety of situations, for example, when you need to keep ingredients in the bowl cold for hours at a time or want to save extra cookie dough.

They are too SMALL. costs more to return than the lids costs.

I thought the lid could be placed on the bowl and the beater could go through the center hole and thus prevent splashing.

As Shannon says, Kitchenaid mixer bowl covers are terrific for storing food and attachments. But be warned: these particular covers may not fit your mixer bowl! I purchased a new Artisan mixer & ordered these to go along with it, but they are too small. They do not fit the Artisan or KSM90 mixer bowls. Models they fit are KBC5N, K5SS, & KSM5 only.

I have had my KitchenAid 5 quart mixer for a little over 2 years now. I have enjoyed every minute of it! In fact, I got it for Christmas and my husband was concerned because I had told him a few years back that "Anything with a chord attached was NOT a present". I have since eaten every word of that comment. Getting a KitchenAid is like getting a Diamond. Especially a 5 quart Mixer. I have a growing family of Boys and they all LOVE Pizza, homemade bread, and muffins. All of these are very easy to make using my Kitchen Aid. One of the problems I have had is the many bowls I use to Rise my dough! These lids enable me to simply mix my dough, knead it (using the mixer of course) and then simply put the lid on and let it rise! It also keeps my attachments conveniently hidden within the bowl so that I am able to get to them at any time I need them. I am also a person that will NOT use anything that won't go into the dishwasher. These withstand a Great amount of abuse! I have used them MANY times within the dishwasher and they have withstood the upper rack as WELL as the lower rack! This is definately a 5 star product!

The bowl covers are a great idea unfortunately for me I have an Artisan mixer and these bowl covers do not fit. According to KitchenAid Customer Service these are for a discontinued bowl the correct model number for the current 5qt bowl is KNBC.

This is a great lid that seals the bowl with the attachments inside. But I recently opened it up after not using it for awhile and I discovered everything covered in mildew. I guess I put the attachments in the bowl with some moisture on them and since the lid creates a tight seal, I was greeted with mildew. I would suggest leaving it slightly open or making sure that there is NO MOISTURE inside when you seal it. Otherwise, this is a great way to seal everything up against dust and dirt while not in use.

I don't personally own this particular item which is model ***KBC5N***, but having recently purchased KitchenAid KP26M1PSL Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Silver for my fiance, I knew that getting accessories for the mixer was a must to get the most out of our mixer. Anyone who is familiar with KitchenAid products know that they have numerous different types of mixers. That's one beef I have with KitchenAid, make your product accessories a little bit easier to understand without having to go through research mode like you're studying for some kind of final exam that counts for 90% of your grade... but I digress.

Being research-oriented for nearly everything I buy, I had to make sure all the accesssories I purchased fit/match the mixer I own. With that said, I checked with KA Online Help as well as that nifty accordian-folded accessories booklet that came with my mixer to get my information.

The covers that I have are model "KNBC" (KitchenAid 2 Pack Mixer Bowl Cover). These do fit my KA Pro 600 mixer rather snug and nicely. From what KA support told me, all their covers are not sealing (meaning air can get in & out of your bowl even with the cover on). Obviously these are ideal for mixing stuff that needs to sit for a period of time, such as bread but even works for "saving" batter such as cake/cupcake batter for a later use. Much more convenient than using saran wrap or a cloth for covering.

From my research, here is what I found. KitchenAid makes THREE different types of bowl covers for their current line of mixers...

I guess I should have read the printed description better. When I saw these on Amazon they appeared to be more of a splash cover for the Kitchenaid stand mixer bowls, the image appeared to have a hole in the center, thus I thought it would be like the bowl cover for my hand mixer bowl I ordered through the Pampered Chef. I thought the lid could be placed on the bowl and the beater could go through the center hole and thus prevent splashing. No such luck, no hole in the middle and even if I adapted it and cut the plastic away from the indented center, the blade would not turn as it should. So now I have lids to put on the bowl to keep dirt and dust out!

I thought the picture showed an open center in the lid, so I could leave my beater attached to the mixer while covering both the bowl and mixer. However, it came without the open center, so I have to remove the mixer. It works, but just isn't what I expected or really wanted.
