5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best!!
I love my KitchenAid toaster oven. Before I purchased, I read all the reviews. It wasn't rated very highly by many. I believe the reason for this is that it works more like an oven than a toaster. It does require a few minutes of preheating for perfect results.

1.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING
I was so excited to get this product. I have several great KitchenAid appliances and didn't even think to check the reviews before ordering - big mistake. It burned the toast on one side and left the other virtually uncooked - no matter what setting was used. The elements did not heat evenly, it was angled forward (which looks weird) - we used a level to verify it was...

I love my KitchenAid toaster oven. Before I purchased, I read all the reviews. It wasn't rated very highly by many. I believe the reason for this is that it works more like an oven than a toaster. It does require a few minutes of preheating for perfect results.

Have you ever had old fashioned oven toast? It's different from toast from a toaster. Much better. This is the toast produced with this oven. I've had it for a couple of months, and I get perfect toast every time.

This goes also for everything else I've cooked or heated in this oven.

I read in one review that it had only 1 rack position. Take my word: It has 4.

I read in another that the exterior was faulty. Mine is perfect.

I read in another that the oven didn't go off automatically. It does.

I read in another that the rack slid out too fast and fell on the opened door. OOPS!!

I thought this was "operator error", and laughed the first time it happened. Just be aware, and use a hot pad to slide the rack out. If you use a fork, it WILL slide out and land on the opened door!! I think the teflon interior contributes to this issue.

I took a chance because it's KitchenAid. I'm glad I did!! Another quality product!!

This is the classiest little toaster oven I've every had! The exterior is really stainless steel on the front, and the body is beautifully finished in red.

I'll deal with the sliding rack!

I was so excited to get this product. I have several great KitchenAid appliances and didn't even think to check the reviews before ordering - big mistake. It burned the toast on one side and left the other virtually uncooked - no matter what setting was used. The elements did not heat evenly, it was angled forward (which looks weird) - we used a level to verify it was uneven, and I wasn't impressed with the baking cycles. It ticks the whole time it's cooking which was not desired. When I called KitchenAid and said I'd like to return this product, they didn't even ask why. Very disappointing.

Besides the great looking color, it is designed with an unexpected safety feature; all modes (bake, toast, broil, warm) run on a 30 minute timer so that you cannot easily burn anything... like your house.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful To Look At, August 18, 2007

I have always owned $20 Toaster Ovens and accepted that, when they broke, I had gotten a good value. Now that I am married, I splurged for this beautifully designed model. We babied it. It broke, inexplicably, 15 months after purchase. I am very disappointed and will never buy another Kitchen Aid product. If you are comfortable with this value proposition, go ahead and purchase it. It worked well when it was working.

I am thrilled with this oven. I've owned several different brands but this one is at the top. I am very happy with every feature, and it's beautiful!

1.0 out of 5 stars Large Disappointment, September 22, 2006

This review is from: KitchenAid KCO1005ER 1/2-Cubic-Foot 6-Slice Countertop Oven, Empire Red (Kitchen)
I used it about three times before I had to return it to the store. The entire over would get hot, including the glass of the front door. The oven rank would slide on its own and fall on the open glass door, spilling all my food...d'oh! The heat was also very weak; it took ten minutes to cook what it takes three minutes on the stove. I was so disappointed because it looked sturdy and I have good luck with their other products.

5.0 out of 5 stars well made oven toaster, September 28, 2006
This review is from: KitchenAid KCO1005ER 1/2-Cubic-Foot 6-Slice Countertop Oven, Empire Red (Kitchen)
i had an oster oven toaster and liked the kitchenaid better because it was more solid, the chrome parts didnt look cheap like other brands. i agree that a small chip of paint came off out of the box, but that was because of the protective tape on the edge for shipping, not necessary. i used a perm black marker, just a dot or two, and it looks like it never happened, big deal, in a couple of months it wont look new anyways, thats life (you must not have kids or pets to complain about this). yes, it would be nice if the timer went longer, but if i wanted to cook something for that duration would use the real oven, duh. i like this oven, it doesnt look cheap (ie, about to fall apart) and i feel comfortable using it. even the oster toaster took awhile to get used to, not all microwaves cook the same either, its called trial and error.. practice makes perfect :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I decided to try it for myself..., September 16, 2008
This review is from: KitchenAid KCO1005ER 1/2-Cubic-Foot 6-Slice Countertop Oven, Empire Red (Kitchen)
I was very hesitant, because I normally let the reviews dictate whether I buy an item or not. I really needed this color red though. Thankfully, I am pleased! It is very heavy- sturdy, paint feels thick- not chintzy. No chipping problems (yet). It toasts beautifully (does take a little time to get used to the controls). Bakes well (easier to bake then toast actually). All in all it was a good purchase for us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Intuitive, August 19, 2008
This review is from: KitchenAid KCO1005ER 1/2-Cubic-Foot 6-Slice Countertop Oven, Empire Red (Kitchen)
I have had several new toaster ovens in the recent past (I have been looking for just the right one) and this will be the last one. It is a keeper. It is beautiful, and the knobs are intuitive to use--not crazy electronic knobs that you have to read the manual to figure out what they mean. It is high quality, and works well. It is a little large compared to other toaster ovens (may take up too much space on the counter in some kitchens) but I love it!

I had looked everywhere for a red toaster oven, and did not have very many to pick from. After reading several reviews on each one, I decided to buy the KitchenAid. I am very pleased with my decision. It is slightly larger than the previous toaster oven, but it really love it. It is great. Easy to use, and I like the large handle to open the door.
