Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Equipped with 5-cup and 2-cup work bowls, this compact food processor is ideal for small households or for small jobs when a large unit isn't necessary. Each bowl has its own blade, and the smaller bowl is perfect for mincing herbs, chopping onions and tomatoes, and making bread crumbs. Also included is a reversible, stainless-steel disk with one side for shredding such foods as cheese and potatoes and the other for slicing carrots and cabbage. At 450 watts the unit is amply powered for the size of the work bowls. A large, uncomplicated feed tube simplifies adding ingredients. Cleanup is simple, too, requiring nothing more than a quick wipe of the power base and its touchpad controls, and all other parts are dishwasher-safe.

The processor measures just 6-3/8 inches wide, 13-3/4 inches high, and 7-1/2 inches deep and weighs 10 pounds so it won't skitter on the counter during operation. KitchenAid says the first year of the processor's lifetime warranty against defects is "hassle-free," with a replacement shipped at no cost and without question if a defect is detected. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for those who need a scaled-down unit, November 15, 2001

This is the first food processor I've ever owned, but I've used several and the Kitchenaid is by far the best small food processor on the market. It comes with ultra-sharp blades (3 in all for different chores) and a mini-bowl so that you don't have to dirty the larger one for small jobs. The processor itself can tackle many different jobs, from slicing to grating to chopping to liquifying- and everything in-between. The motor is strong and long-lasting, and so quiet that you barely hear it running! (A huge plus, in my book!) The touch-pad controls are easy to keep clean, and the whole thing takes up very little space. Just today I used mine to chop 2 cups of walnuts: in under 30 seconds I had perfectly chopped nuts. To top it all off, it comes with a total replacement warranty from Kitchenaid, which means if anything goes wrong with it, they'll replace it no questions asked. Definitely worth the money, don't settle for anything less!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a food processor that works properly, November 10, 2002

I had almost given up on ever finding a functional food processor. This was my last hope. I find that this unit slices, chops, and shreds beautifully and uniformly--unlike previous units that produced mangled or soupy product. This is a great unit for small and medium jobs, and as a household of one, it's perfect for me. If you do larger jobs or a larger household with bigger cooking volumes, then perhaps try the larger Kitchen Aid food processor (11 cup). I've been doing fall apple recipes lately, and this processor has been perfect. Easy to assemble, easy to lock the bowl and lid into place, easy cleanup. I love the mini bowl for smaller jobs like chopping nuts, herbs, garlic, etc. Small enough to keep on the counter, even in a small apartment kitchen. Thank you KitchenAid for the best food processor on the market!

4.0 out of 5 stars great customer service, November 4, 2000
By A Customer
This food processor has been easy to use, though the slicing isn't quite as perfect as a professional model.

I had to call Kitchen Aid when my unit quit working after 2 yrs. Since it was out-of-warranty, I was calling for an estimate on service. They immediately offered to send my a replacement unit instead.
