5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for those who need a scaled-down unit
This is the first food processor I've ever owned, but I've used several and the Kitchenaid is by far the best small food processor on the market. It comes with ultra-sharp blades (3 in all for different chores) and a mini-bowl so that you don't have to dirty the larger one for small jobs. The processor itself can tackle many different jobs, from slicing to grating to...

I purchased this item almost a year ago, and have been pretty happy with it. The motor is strong and quiet and the base feels extremely sturdy.

However, the prep bowls and other components (except the blades) are made of a flimsy plastic. Also, the drive mount that the attachments fit onto is made of a nylon plastic. After about 6 months of use, the...

This is the first food processor I've ever owned, but I've used several and the Kitchenaid is by far the best small food processor on the market. It comes with ultra-sharp blades (3 in all for different chores) and a mini-bowl so that you don't have to dirty the larger one for small jobs. The processor itself can tackle many different jobs, from slicing to grating to chopping to liquifying- and everything in-between. The motor is strong and long-lasting, and so quiet that you barely hear it running! (A huge plus, in my book!) The touch-pad controls are easy to keep clean, and the whole thing takes up very little space. Just today I used mine to chop 2 cups of walnuts: in under 30 seconds I had perfectly chopped nuts. To top it all off, it comes with a total replacement warranty from Kitchenaid, which means if anything goes wrong with it, they'll replace it no questions asked. Definitely worth the money, don't settle for anything less!

4.0 out of 5 stars great customer service, November 4, 2000
By A Customer
This food processor has been easy to use, though the slicing isn't quite as perfect as a professional model.

I had to call Kitchen Aid when my unit quit working after 2 yrs. Since it was out-of-warranty, I was calling for an estimate on service. They immediately offered to send my a replacement unit instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a food processor that works properly, November 10, 2002

I had almost given up on ever finding a functional food processor. This was my last hope. I find that this unit slices, chops, and shreds beautifully and uniformly--unlike previous units that produced mangled or soupy product. This is a great unit for small and medium jobs, and as a household of one, it's perfect for me. If you do larger jobs or a larger household with bigger cooking volumes, then perhaps try the larger Kitchen Aid food processor (11 cup). I've been doing fall apple recipes lately, and this processor has been perfect. Easy to assemble, easy to lock the bowl and lid into place, easy cleanup. I love the mini bowl for smaller jobs like chopping nuts, herbs, garlic, etc. Small enough to keep on the counter, even in a small apartment kitchen. Thank you KitchenAid for the best food processor on the market!

4.0 out of 5 stars only one little problem, March 31, 2003
By A Customer
I started out with the large processor,it took up too much counter
space so I sent it back.
Then I went with this one and was very pleased . . .
until I tried to order more slicing discs for it.
There aren't any avaiable for this size. I was very disappointed
because the slices from the disc are amlost paperthin (2mm) and don't work well with salads etc. When I ordered a 6mm slicing disc it didn't fit. When I called the company they said, too bad, no other discs available. We still use it but as we are a big salad famiy I am still slicing by hand....

5.0 out of 5 stars Small is beautiful, March 4, 2002
By A Customer
After struggling for years with another brand food processor, I decided to try the KFP350 5-Cup (Cobalt Blue). It is fantasttic! Not only is the motor strong, and fast, it's unbelievably quiet. The smaller bowl is excellent for mincing garlic and the larger bowl is more than adequate for most jobs. In addition, this processor is unbelievably easy to clean. Although I have no complaints about the size (it's so efficient that jobs are done quickly), having now "tasted" KitchenAid technology, I lust after a larger model, though given the efficiency of the this food processor it would be hard to justify...
BTW, the color is gorgeous.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small but powerful, August 13, 2003
By
It's perfect for grating parmesan cheese (use the blade, not the disc) and for shredding softer cheeses (put the cheese in the freezer until almost frozen, per the manual, and use the disc).

It will leak if the contents are very liquid and rise above the center post, so put your dry ingredients in first. It is small, so don't expect to be kneading loaves of bread in it.

In addition to grating and shredding cheese and vegetables, I've made pestos and mustards and salsas in it.

The unit is nice and heavy and feels substantial, and the color matches my mixer perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Best Friend, November 30, 2003

OK, I just bought this thing to puree` food for my puppy, who has a lot of allergies and had to be put on a special diet. But I'm using this food processor for so much more. It makes recipes so much less scary and I have found out something really wonderful and completely unexpected: I can cook!

The KitchenAid Little Ultra has such a strong motor; I have not found a task yet that it is not up for. I am using it to mix dough, slice veggies, grate cheeses and frozen butter (for fancy, flaky French pastries), grind herbs and spices, and to make rich, savory soups. It is quiet, easy to clean up, and the perfect centerpiece on my kitchen counter. It is just the right size for a small household. Best of all, it takes so much time out of preparation, and gives such uniform results, that you will gain a confidence you never thought you'd have.

If you are hesitant in the kitchen and afraid you may not get enough use out of a food processor to spend a lot on one, try the KitchenAid Little Ultra and you will find a new best friend. Soon you will wonder how you got by without one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very powerful, but oh, so quiet!, February 8, 2004
By A Customer
My sister owns the big 11 cup model, but I didn't need that big of a processor, so I bought the small one. It's very powerful, slices vegetables quickly and neatly. Mine also has a smaller insert bowl that's great for chopping a small amount of nuts, etc. without messing up the big bowl. Definitely worth the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great if you're new to the kitchen, May 14, 2001
By A Customer
I wasn't sure that I'd use a food processor and was hesitant to spend a fortune on one. I have a lot of small appliances that sit unused on the pantry shelf.

I bought the 5-cup food processor, and it is perfect for a small household. It's compact, storing away easily. It is simple to clean. Perfect for a food processing newcomer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quality Not Uniform, August 24, 2005
This review is from: KitchenAid KFP350 5-Cup Little Ultra Power Food Processor, White (Kitchen)

After about 6 months of use, the plastic attachment stem (for use with the slicing disc) and drive stem no longer made a snug fit. This causes the disc to wobble while in use and scores the side of the prep bowl and makes a lot of noise.

I reported the defect to Kitchen Aid. Their customer service promptly provided me with a new attachment stem, but unfortunately that did not solve the problem.

I would not recommend the purchase of this food processor. Kitchen Aid appears to have put a lot of effort into making a good base unit, but they cut too many corners when designing and manufacturing the components. A purchase of this magnitude should last a life-time. This food processor will not meet that standard.
