5.0 out of 5 stars Cuisinart vs. Kitchen Aid
Having gifted my Cuisinart processor to my daughter I found that my kitchen was incomplete without a replacement. I decided on a Kitchen Aid 7-cup processor. Compared to the Cuisinart there are two things I like better. First, it much quieter when in use. Second, it has a mini bowl and blade for fine chopping, eliminating the need for a mini-chopper. 2.0 out of 5 stars Better off with the Cuisinart
I've had the Kitchenaid food processor for several years and it is less than fully satisfactory. The buttons are difficult to press positively, making the operation less than wholly precise and the loading tube is too small for most veggies - exactly the sort of thing a food processor is supposed to save you time preparing. 5.0 out of 5 stars 7-Cup KitchenAid Food Processor is Outstanding, June 12, 2001

This review is from: KitchenAid KFP450WW1 7-Cup Food Processor with Citrus Juice Attachment (Kitchen)
This product is an excellant buy for the price. I have several other food processors that are in various price categories, and none match the elegant design and power of this product.

This processor is quiet, extremely powerful, and has made preparation of some fairly complicated dishes a lot easier. The large bowl holds all of the ingredients for many dishes which others have not. The limited number of attachemnts and blades is actually a blessing since I don't have to remember what goes with which appliance. The included blade and shredding disk are top quality and heavy duty, and the mini-bowl and small blade are perfect for little jobs.

It also came with a juicer attachment. I have not used it yet, but it looks sturdier than the one that came with another processor I have.

The design is great for cleanliness. The buttons are enclosed in the "skin" of the processor, so they need only be wiped off if something splatters. They can't get food into and around the buttons and thus no damage from splatters can occur.

I would recommend this product to anyone particularly at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars My helping hand in the kitchen, August 10, 2001

This little workhorse is a honey of an appliance because it makes preparation work like chopping onions, garlic, etc. a breeze. No more straining when squeezing limes because the juicer attachment does the job for you as well as lemons, grapefruit, etc. It can be used for grinding nuts, mixing pastry, and saves you precious time and tedious hand work. And if you like salads, shredding or slicing carrots, cucumber, green pepper, celery is no problem with the slicing-shredding disk to do the job. I LOVE IT MADLY.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome food processor, October 30, 2003

I wish I could rate this product higher than 5 stars! As a (fairly) newlywed and novice chef, I decided I needed a food processor. After much research, I decided to spend a bit more money than I initially expected to and purchased the mid-size KitchenAid food processor. I've owned it for only 2 weeks and have probably used it an average of once per day! The first time I used it, I thought it wasn't working because it was so quiet! The first words out of my mouth were "My mom won't believe this!" Growing up, my mom would have to warn us to cover our ears when she was about to use her food processor, because it was so loud. (By the way, she was amazed this past weekend when she visited and we used the processor). Not only is it quiet, but it is very powerful and fast! It has the pulse feature which is good when you want to take care in how finely you want things chopped. (It may work too well sometimes...it takes some getting used to). This product has made cooking so much easier for me. No more chopping garlic and onion or shredding carrots (my knuckles are thanking me). I love the mini bowl - I can use the processor twice in one meal without having to clean up. I have not used the citrus juicer yet, but when I do, I'm sure it will meet my expectations. One caution: do not leave liquidy food in the processor for a long period of time, as it will leak out. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a high quality first food processor. I plan on upgrading to the (red!!) 11 cup after I pass this one on to my future children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great but ....., October 7, 2003
This review is from: KitchenAid KFP450WW1 7-Cup Food Processor with Citrus Juice Attachment (Kitchen)
Just adding to other reviews: Keep in mind that "Citrus Press" uses the same motor as for chopping. It is extremely powerful, thus, YOU CAN'T REALLY HAVE THE FRUIT IN YOUR HAND TO MANUALLY MOVE IT (in order to take more juice out.)

But if you cover up the fruit with the supplied lid , (because of the powerful motor --> high RPM) after a few seconds you'll find inside the fruit covered up with a THICK LAYER OF PRESSED MATERIAL, BLOCKING THE WAY OUT FOR MORE JUICE --> won't get all the juice out of the fruit.

(Although I have to say I have not used any other "Citrus Press" products yet, but I can say this one did not satisfy me.)

Otherwise, this food processor is great! Highly Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Quality at a Cuisinart Price, March 17, 2004

Well Cuisinarts arent cheap in price but for the price Amazon is offering this French Made beauty at it beats the pants off Cuisinart's Chinese Made models. A plus is the citrus juicer which would cost you close to what the whole food processor goes for plus you can make Pesto, Hummus, Grind Meat, Pastry Dough and chop and slice anything else your heart desires.

I've had the Kitchenaid food processor for several years and it is less than fully satisfactory. The buttons are difficult to press positively, making the operation less than wholly precise and the loading tube is too small for most veggies - exactly the sort of thing a food processor is supposed to save you time preparing. The mini bowl was its only redeeming quality, it was great for little batches of spices or a small hunk of Parmesan cheese, but the plastic they use for their blade assemblies doesn't hold up well over time - it gets brittle - and our mini blade broke. The kicker is that you can't get individual parts for the Kitchenaid like you can with a Cuisinart. You have to buy a whole new set for nearly the price of the entire machine and oh by the way, you can't get a new mini bowl and blade at all. After Al sent the blade stem thingy down the disposal, we are down to only the one main chopper blade, but the plastic is going on it too. We don't have call to use it but every once in a while, so it isn't like we've worn it out.
I plan to replace this machine with a Cuisinart 10S very soon.
