I bought one of these for my wife. We're at the limit for storage space. I actually brought home one of the larger Kitchen Aid units and I had to take it back because we didn't have room to store it!
This unit is heavy, powerful, and quiet for its size. So far we've had nothing but good experiences with it, but it's a good idea to read all the reviews to see if your particular favorite food is something people have had trouble processing with this particular machine. It seems that all food processors have their strengths and weaknesses. Our main purpose for the machine is processing veggies, and it's working just fine so far. And, its small enough to hide away when not in use. Finally, the three cup bowl is great for doing small jobs. That was one of the reasons we chose this machine.

A Terrific Food Processor (especially for homemade baby food),
By Kasey (Snohomish, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid KFP720WH 7-Cup Food Processor with 3-Cup Mini Bowl, White (Kitchen)
After researching food processors, I settled on the Kitchen Aid 7-cup Processor with 3-cup Mini Bowl. I am very pleased with my purchase. It is easy to make small batches of baby food in the 3-cup mini bowl and large batches in the 7-cup bowl; having the size option is terrific! The food processor does a great job pureeing meat, fruit and veggies, chopping garlic and herbs, making creamy hummus, etc. I use a stick blender for soups so I didn't need a large processor. The slicing/shredding disc works great for making hashbrowns, shredding cheese, slicing zucchini, etc.
The processor is easy to clean with all parts (besides the base & cord) being top-rack dishwasher safe, but I also find a baby bottle brush to be very useful when cleaning it by hand. It is surprisingly quiet when running. And, it is small enough to store either on the counter-top or in a cabinet. I would highly recommend this food processor. Update (10/16/08): The white cap on the top of the work bowl's handle broke and flew off. This is the piece that acts as a safety feature, latching the lid to the bowl and allowing it to turn on. I called KitchenAid's customer service and since my 1-year warranty is up, it would cost me $39.99 + shipping to replace the work bowl. Looking at the piece that broke off, it seems to be a bad design and appears like it would happen again, so I will not spend the money. I am still able to operate it by holding the lid down and manually releasing the safety spring in the handle. Disappointing, but at least it still works for now.

Great food processor, inconvenient storage,
This review is from: KitchenAid KFP720WH 7-Cup Food Processor with 3-Cup Mini Bowl, White (Kitchen)
This food processor works very well, and has a compact design that makes countertop storage realistic. Additionally, it has the safety feature of not working unless properly assembled. I find it to be reasonably quiet, strong, and large enough for me. The one thing I actively dislike about it is the difficulty in storing the (sharp) parts when not in use -- there is no particularly good way to store the extra bowl and blade, or the grater/shredder, and all I've been able to do is set aside one area of a cupboard for these accessories.
I find the shredder works well, and the entire unit is sturdy. Grating vegetables or cheese is easy (once you figure out which side of the blade to use), and grinding works well for tough things like soaked dried beans as well as soft doughs. The mini-bowl and its blade work well, with the only minor inconvenience being that sometimes a bit of the food makes its way into the larger bowl, requiring a rinse. All in all, I've been pleased with my machine.

Excellent processor,

This food processor beats my previous (atdmittedly, 10 year old) food processor by several miles. It's extremely quiet, and has handled everything I've thrown at it without a single glitch. I wouldn't mind if the top was a bit easier to clean, as cheese and some other stickier foods can get jammed in the gap between the lip and the feeder tube, but it's not too hard to clean, just a bit tedious. The best part is it looks great next to my Kitchen Aid stand mixer ;-).

I've owned a competitor's (Cuisinart) processor for many years, and finally replaced it out of frustration with the safety interlock system which made it very difficult for me to use. The Kitchenaid processor is MUCH better designed and is easier to use and a snap to take apart and clean. It's small enough to leave out on the counter. The pieces are dishwasher compatible. Since our kids have moved away, I decided that the 7-cup was just fine for the two of us. My only complaint (voiced by others) is that the blade selection is limited to what comes with the machine for this Kitchenaid processor (which is why I've just given it a 4-star rating). The mini-bowl is something my other processor didn't have; it's great for those quick, small jobs and is also very easy to put in place and clean.

A good quiet machine, easy to clean BUT the slicing disc is only good for potato chips. The 2mm blade is the only one available for it and too thin for most applications. I called customer service and they said maybe by the end of the year!! read the other reviews and you will see they haven't done a thing to accomodate accessories. If you need versatility, don't waste your money on it. I should have bought Cuisinart, at least they have a selection of accessories.

Great Size - Great Pain in the Neck,
By Elaine "readeremga" (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid KFP720WH 7-Cup Food Processor with 3-Cup Mini Bowl, White (Kitchen)
After owning a terrific Cuisinart food processor for 17 years, I replaced it with this Kitchen Aid model, thinking I was getting a top end appliance. I struggle with the bowl attachment - adjusting again and again until it finally goes into the slot, never on the first try. The shredder disk has an unstable connection. The blades are positioned so that the lowest blade is about 1/32" above the bottom of the bowl, so if you want to chop vegetables for salsa, you end up with pulverized tomato sauce instead of pico de gallo - with no alternate blade available. It works well for hummus, but not much else. I think it's going into the next school garage sale.

Blade could be better for the finer jobs,

I read some excellent reviews about this product, my experience so far (2months) is that the blade needs improving. I processed ground meat to make kebbeh and had to try many times over because the blade would not cut the meat fine enough. Same thing when trying to make a fine paste for hummos with garbanzo beans, the paste had a granular texture - which is ok - instead of a creamy one. Cleaning the blade was a bit tedious too.
Otherwise, cleaning the bowl was ok and the motor seems to be powerful enough to take on any job.

Love it!,

This review is from: KitchenAid KFP720WH 7-Cup Food Processor with 3-Cup Mini Bowl, White (Kitchen)
I did a good deal of research before buying this food processor. The three cup mini bowl was a big plus for me since my main reason for buying a food processor is to make baby food. This machine is quiet, easy to use and easy to clean. Also, it doesn't take up a lot of counter space. I've made a number of purees with it and have also have used it to slice veggies for chicken noodle soup. The only thing that would make this better is if it came with a storage case for blades. Otherwise, I am very, very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it highly.

Good dependable product,
By Laurie C. "Cape Cod Grammy" (Cape Cod, MA) - See all my reviews

This purchase was a replacement for a cheaper product we had to replace twice before due to a broken top. The Kitchen Aid Food Processor work bowl(s) and top is a much heavier plastic, therefore I hope, more durable. It works very well. The two downsides are that the base is fairly heavy and may be a problem to lift for use if it is not left out and the mini bowl must be used inside of the regular bowl and takes some getting used to assembling.
