we use them all the time, January 5, 2003
This review is from: KitchenAid KFPDCS 5 Disc Set, fits 11-Cup Processor (Kitchen)
I never thought that I would prefer a food processor over a sharp knife, but here we are. These discs all do exactly what they are supposed to, processing large volumes of food very promptly!

I love these discs!, February 4, 2001
This review is from: KitchenAid KFPDCS 5 Disc Set, fits 11-Cup Processor (Kitchen)
Each disc speaks for itself concerning its abliliy and uses. NOT ONE DISC HAS LET ME DOWN. The greatest part about buying the set it not just the savings you incurr from the bulk purchase but knowing that you will never be in your kitchen wishing you had the bought the whole package vice one disc at a time. You will have all that you need.

Very useful, but limited by the feed tube, May 29, 2006
This review is from: KitchenAid KFPDCS 5 Disc Set, fits 11-Cup Processor (Kitchen)
These are great discs for the food processor. They are sharp and work well. The problem is really that the machine they fit has a small feed tube. I e-mailed KitchenAid and asked them to sell a separate replacement lid with a wide-mouth feed tube to really take advantage of the french fry disc, and others. They said that is not going to happen.
The french fry disc is not really useful for french fries because they come out very short. However, it is great for dicing fruits and vegetables--tomatoes, peppers, onions, strawberries, etc. When you can't just process things with the regular blade because the pieces get too small, this disc is wonderful.
The ice/parmesan disc is for harder foods that you would normally grate manually, like ginger or parmesan. (Works great on parmesan. You can turn a block of fresh parmesan into a mound of fluffy shredded cheese in seconds.) Theoretically it would work for lemon zest, too, but I haven't yet worked out how to that well. The larger shredding disc and thicker slicing discs also come in handy.
Overall, the discs expand the versatility of the processor and worth getting, IMHO.
