I received this food processor a few weeks ago and am so pleased! I previously had the Kitchenaid professional 11 cup model and this one is sooo much better! It's amazing what increasing the size by just one cup does! I had this chocolate tofu pie recipe that never quite got blended in my old processer because it was too thick and heavy, but it blends to the smoothest consistency in this one. I no longer have to break it up into batches! Plus, the extra large feed tube is a definate improvement over the older smaller versions. And this one doesn't jump around on my countertop like my older one did a bit. This one just seems REALLY solidly built. Don't get me wrong, Kitchenaids older versions were also the best for their time, this one is just even better!
The design of this model is also very sleek and I'm no longer emberassed having my processor on my countertop. Please note, this brushed nickel model also comes with an egg wisk, a citrus juicer attachment and an extra work bowl, which don't come with the other models. I noticed this wasn't mentioned in Amazon's description but it should be. That alone justifies the slightly higher price, in addtition to the beautiful stainless finish and larger feed tube.

Beautiful, powerful and quiet!,

I received this processor in remarkably short time and have been exceptionally impressed by the quality and performance. It is a large machine. I was surprised by the size and weight, but it still manages to fit on the counter under the cabinets and looks wonderful.
The accessories are plentiful and the storage case is useful for keeping all the additional blades neatly organized. The chefs bowl can only be used with the disc blades (the multipurpose blades only fit the large bowl and mini bowl). As large as the machine is, it's remarkably quiet. I quickly made a carrot cake (and cream cheese frosting), quiche and a loaf of bread without disturbing anyone else in the house. The speed with which this machine processes is stunning. I have run all the components through the dishwasher multiple times taking care to turn off the power heat option if any pieces were near the heating element to avoid damage. The widemouth feed is large enough to take an entire large potato. Enough said. I'm still getting acquainted with food processing, but if you want a large, powerful and quiet food processor that looks fantastic, this is a great buy.

After doing much research on food processors, it wound up a choice between the Kitchen Aid and the Cuisine Art. I went to the store to see in person which machine I liked better. The Kitchen Aid, it turns out, is far more user friendly than the CuisineArt. A simple click is all that is needed to lock the base and top into position. Whereas I always had to struggle with my old Cuisine Art to lock the mechanisms into place. It is a sturdy machine and as many have said, it is rather quiet, but powerful. This is not an inexpensive machine, but one hopes it will last a very long time.
I used the Kitchen Aid several times for various tasks in the month I have had it and it has been wonderful. I like that it comes with the extra work bowls and attachments and the storage container. It is easy to use and switch blades and bowls during the food prep process. Grating, mincing and slicing are easy to control with the pulse button (better than with the CuisineArt). I was concerned about reviews that said the mechanism froze to the base and called customer service to ask about this issue. The person with whom I spoke feigned ignorance of the prevalance of the problem and said he had only heard about it happening once and that it most likely occurred when the bowl was over filled. Frankly, I do not believe him. That said, other reviewers have praised the Kitchen Aid customer service in the event of a problem. This problem has NOT happened to me, but I have not made dough in the machine yet, which is when it seems like it happens. The look of the machine is cool and it does not take up a huge amount of counter space. I do recommend taking a look at the choices in a store in person to see what suits your needs. Then buy on Amazon where I have found, for the most part, prices to be good.

I purchased this gift for my wife because she wanted a food processor for Christmas. She had asked some time ago for a Cuisinart, but I saw this one on sale and thought I would get it instead. It received great reviews...good price, etc. **Note to all men reading this: if your wife has her mind set on a particular brand of something...just go ahead and get her what she wants.
I thought my wife would be impressed because I had done my research, but her first reaction was "Wow...this is really huge!" A picture is worth 1000 words, but somehow the pics on amazon and everywhere else make this thing seem much smaller than it really is. I could have read the specs, but who has time for that? All in all, this is a great food processor with lots of power. I think it grated 16oz of cheese in about 3 seconds. It was much more powerful than what my wife needed I guess. It is also fairly heavy to drag in and out of wherever you're storing it. I think many professionals or serious cooks will be happy with this product.

There are two reasons to buy a KichenAid. They last a long time and they add a touch of quality to the kitchen. With the second in mind, I bought this brushed nickel version since my kitchen faucets and draw handles are brushed nickel. This piece fit right in and looks great on the counter. Nothing you need to store away, this adds to the decor (along with teh KitchenAid brushed nickel blender and the Kitchen Aid brushed nickel mixer).
But, it also works very well. I did not buy these just to look good. I wanted good quality, long-lasting items and this appears to be it. I love using the food processor. It makes the work a bit easier and the wide-mouth gives you plenty of choices. The capacity is amazing at 12-cups and the washable parts easily fit in the dishwasher. It is sturdy (slightly heavy) and does everything I ask. They should list the attachments in the features as I bought a separate juicer attachment, which did not fit, and I found a similiar attachment in the box. So, don't but any attachments until you have seen what you get.

After doing my research by looking at Consumer Reports, deciding what features were most important to me, and looking at different models in the store, I finally decided on this machine. I am happy to say that I am THRILLED with this food processor. It is powerful, stable, quiet (for a food processor), and easy to use. It also comes with a special case for all of the attachments. This processor is rather large and I would recommend keeping it on your counter because it would be too cumbersome to pull out of a cabinet every time one wanted to use it. It fits comfortably underneath my kitchen cabinets but measure just in case. My only complaint is that it can be a bit difficult to clean but I imagine that is the case with most food processors. Other than that, I am enjoying this machine and have had no trouble making pizza dough and other goodies.

I've been using this food processor for two and a half months now, and I'm very impressed. Mind you, its my first food processor so I might not know better, but it seems to tackle anything I can throw at it. On dry stuff like vegetables it will chop more than I can hold in my largest saute pan, so thats enough for me. Nuts chop pretty well, but not that great. Really wet things can be a problem because the fill line at which everything will leak out is about half-way up. Thats deceptive, especially for someone who hasn't used it before.
More than once I've asked someone to mix something with it and they tried to fill it all the way up and we had a waterfall of cake batter, salad dressing (really thin stuff too) or whatever. Since I don't have a real mixer I've had to use this food processor for that duty too, and the mixing blade does a great job. Although I may still get a mixer, its not important. The egg beater attachment also works superbly. People raved for over a week about the lemon meringue pie I made with it. Besides the above listed problems with the mini bowl doing a so-so job of chopping nuts (and most anything else short of corn flakes) and the deceptive fill-line issue, I'd have one more problem. It didn't work one night and I couldn't figure out why. It seems the bowl has to be in perfect alignment with the top and the base, which is all well and good. But one day I did everything as normal and it just wouldn't turn on. I had to jam a fork into the safety switch on the bowl to finish dinner. I called KitchenAid and they were helpful. They gave a very specific way to put it together and it seems to work again. But all in all its become an essential tool in my repertoire. I've been able to tackle recipes that I would have otherwise disregarded and completed tasks in a few minutes that would have taken me an hour of manual chopping. Oh, BTW, this sucker is HEAVY!

We purchased this Food processor after an extensive research, reading reviews on various sites, checking the product manuals and etc.
We had to return it after giving it couple of tries. Did not meet expectations whatsoever. The most disappointing was the fact that you could put only up to 5 (five!) cups of liquid into so called 12 cups food processor. This was NOT disclosed anywhere. This makes it pretty useless for most of the applications. Second biggest disappointment was that it leaked over the center under a stem. Cleaning was a nightmare. When we tried kneading the dough it was a disaster. With 2.5 cups of flour the machine would dance all over the counter. Dough would escape through the center and get under the stem. Try to get it out! We were quite patient and gave it couple of tries but gave up at the end! We returned it and bought a 14 cups Elite Cuisinart Food Processor. It has MOST of the attachments, much better ADJUSTABLE slicing disk, more convenient storage container, does not leak, has a separate dough setting and the same 3 bowls design which was one of the most convincing reasons for purchasing of this one. And - yes - it holds up to 10 cups of liquid in the main bowl and the level is marked on each bowl as well! I would definitely research that one if you are looking. It is just A BIT bigger but SO MUCH better!

We bought this Kitchenaid a few months ago - after 20+ years of using a Cuisinart - and couldn't be more pleased. The Amazon reviews on both the Kitchenaid and the Cuisinart were what helped us make the decision.
Two things I noticed that people had complained about: 1. Getting plastic shards in food - this happens ONLY when the bowl gets too full. [I know from experience :-)]. While it is apparently a design flaw, you can avoid it by emptying the bowl before it gets full. 2. Food getting caught inside. There are several bowls in this food processor. I couldn't get the next-to-largest out of the main bowl - I tried all kinds of things to remove it, but no luck - and didn't want to break it... Food particles _did_ get between the two bowls. I was able to wash them out, but what a waste of water. Last night, as I was emptying some veggies out of it, the next-to-largest bowl fell out. I'm not putting it back in! And a tip! Do read the directions before using this if you're a Cuisinart user - on the Kitchenaid, you _must_ remove the top before removing the bowl from the base. Happy cooking!

I, too, was in a quandry about KitchenAid vs Cuisinart. I settled on KitchenAid after evaluating both fairly closely.
I've had the chance to work with the KitchenAid KFPM770BN and can absolutely say that I am impressed. The machine oozes quality. It's solid (read: somewhat heavy), verry quiet when operating, very easy for me to clean and a delight. It is attractive enough that it sits out on the counter - ready for use. Many attachments come with this machine so hold off buying any extras until you have a chance to see what's in the box. One minor proviso, which you will see in other reviews, is that this machine is not ideal if you make bulk amounts of soup-like dishes (eg soup, wet salsa, thin batters, etc.). There is no problem if you're dealing with a quart or less - more than a quart, though, and leaking may occur through the central opening of the bowl. If soupy preparations in the food processor are what float your boat, take a look at the Cuisinart - it's a competitive machine which may better meet your needs. Easy to clean, easy to use, plenty of power, verry quiet, full assortment of accessories included overcome the minor proviso for me (as I don't prepare more than a quart of anything liquid in the food processor.) This machine has been well-engineered and should last a long time. Given the proviso, you won't go wrong choosing this machine. |
