soft bristles don't fall out, wash easily,

I once had a basting brush that was great the first two uses, but after that the bristles started pulling out and those that were left became terribly stiff. After weekly use, this one is still in perfect condition. The bristles are soft enough that they don't deflate the bread when I paint on an egg wash, and it washest out easily. Also the handle has a nice heavy feel to it so it is comfortable to hold. I also think the variety of colors that KitchenAid offers for its utensils is a big plus.

This brush is for basting food...not for paining your house. I tried to paint my house with this and it took forever! Basting food took no time at all. Don't paint food though. It tastes funny when you do that.
