5.0 out of 5 stars Great kit if you cook for large groups.
The meat grinder is really handy, and fast. I use mine to make gaspachio soup, you run the peeled cuccomber, pepper, and tomatoes through it using the largest hole grinder and it comes out perfect.

The roto slicer is great if you are doing a large amount of slicing, like for a group supper, and you volunteered to bring the sliced salad. Unlike a food processor there...

1.0 out of 5 stars Attachment Pack
The grinder works great. The slicer/shredder is worthless. If you want a grinder, order it seperately. If you want a slice/shredder, order a food processor. The slicer/shredder did an awful job on onions, mushing them up, and dropping large chunks into the bowl. Celery had the celery strings all wrapped around the drum. It did do a good job on potatoes, shredding...

The roto slicer is great if you are doing a large amount of slicing, like for a group supper, and you volunteered to bring the sliced salad. Unlike a food processor there is no bowl to fill up, you just keep feeding stuff in the top until you are done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great core set of KitchenAid accessories!, August 21, 2004
By
This review is from: KitchenAid KGPA Mixer Attachment Pack for Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
This set provides the basic accessory tools for your KitchenAid stand mixer. All parts are very well made - even though I was a little leery of the plastic on the grinder, it appears to be well made and should last well. The shredder works well, and I found it to be much easier to use and clean than I expected.

Another reviewer mentioned that two pairs of pliers were needed to disassemble the shaft from the cone, but the socket built into the housing for that purpose works well for me (no tools needed). Onions worked fine on the shredder; does a nice job on shredding potatoes and squash! Some potato skins did work their way between the cone and the housing, but not enough to cause much of a problem (just needs a little care).

Overall, I am quite happy with this set. Cost is about $10 less for the set than I'd been able to find for just the grinder and the shredder separately, so the shield is a bonus.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great shredder!, January 25, 2002

The shredder works great on potatoes for hash browns and bricks of cheese grated for pizza or nachos. The meat grinder is fast and efficient. Pouring shield is awkward..........be sure to turn the mixer OFF before placing the shield on the bowl!

The slicer/shredder did an awful job on onions, mushing them up, and dropping large chunks into the bowl. Celery had the celery strings all wrapped around the drum. It did do a good job on potatoes, shredding them nicely. You also need two pairs of pliers to take the drum off the shaft when you're done. And, a plastic spatula from my Braun food processor was great to scrape the potato remains from the drum.

Not much you would need a food processor for after you buy this (ok, it can't blend ingredients)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Deal for the Attachments, February 6, 2007
This review is from: KitchenAid KGPA Mixer Attachment Pack for Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
I wanted to make sure that after I bought my kitchen aid mixer that I didn't limit my abilities with it so I purchased this attachment pack. So far I've only used the meat grinder. But I used it with the pasta plates that I bought from amazon as well. You need the meat grinder to use the pasta plates. The reviews for the pasta plates were a little scary, but they worked like a charm. My first attempt with the dough came out great and hooked right on the dough hook. Then you just feed small amounts into the meat grinder and out comes the pasta of your choice. We made angle hair and first and it came out perfect! If you have a kitchen aid I highly recommend getting the most out of it with the attachments. The clean up is very easy!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wooden plunger no longer available, February 13, 2007
By
This review is from: KitchenAid KGPA Mixer Attachment Pack for Stand Mixers (Kitchen)
The wooden plunger is no longer available from kitchenaid. They provide a combo wrench/plunger made from plastic, which creates too much suction when grinding meat. This especially holds true when trying to stuff sausage. Other than that, the grinder attachment works well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Adds a lot to your basic Kitchenaid, December 13, 2001

I have one of those big Kitchenaid mixers (mainly for making bread. One of us needs non-wheat bread and the other won't eat American-style bread. Nothing to do but bake our own.)

Well, I decided to put that big mixer to work overtime doing sausage (we got spoiled in Europe on homemade, unadulterated Italian sausage made by the neighborhood grocer.) And we like salad and slaw. This gadget goes together easily. You pop the unit onto the front connector on the mixer and feed the vegetables or meat into the hopper. You can shred, slice and grate.

The only thing this set doesn't do is fine chopping, but you know, you could probably add a tiny mini-processor and still have your counter relatively uncluttered.
