I'm at a point in my life where I am developing a taste for quality, and can finally afford the kind of quality I desire. I like to dabble in the kitchen, so I've been building my arsenal of kitchenware recently. I've invested in some high-quality cookware and utensils, and started working on some appliances. I've got an 11-cup Cuisinart food processor, but that tends to be overkill for a lot of smaller jobs - I hate all the cleanup involved with making a cup of guacamole dip, for instance. I like to use peeled whole tomatoes to make tomato sauce for pasta dishes, but my wife doesn't care for chunks of tomato in the finished sauce. No problem... I just dunk the stick blender right into the can of tomatoes and out comes a nice thick puree with all the rich flavor that pre-made sauces seem to lack.

This stick blender came highly recommended by an acquaintance, and it doesn't disappoint. With its high-power motor, variable speed settings and versatile accessories, this is a compact and high-impact kitchen tool. Easy to clean, too. I would urge caution if you've never used one of these before, especially when working with very watery liquids as they can end up getting blown right out of your container if you're not careful.

5.0 out of 5 stars clean off the counter!, July 16, 2007
This review is from: KitchenAid KHB300WH Hand Blender, White (Kitchen)
This exceeded my expectations - I have now put the food processor and blender into the cupboard. I am glad that I got the attachments - do use the chopper a lot and the bowls are quite heavy and stable and very easy cleanup. I am trying to limit "kitchen stuff" to only the truly multipurpose tools and this really fits the bill.

There are many rave reviews here, so I won't bore you more than necesssary. They're all true.

I use the chopper all the time. We never ate so much guacamole. That's my favorite part.

My husband uses the blender daily for his protein shakes.

My sister the chef, and my dear friend, use the whisk attachment all the time. Omelets, cream, etc.

You can't lose with this set.

Wouldn't you guess, after a little over year of use, the PLASTIC that attaches the motor to the attachments shredded. Kitchenaid gave me a discounted price on the new one, which after shipping came to $3 less than amazon. My Kitchenaid food processor (less than 2 years old) has a handle that is falling off (due to the bowl cracking), and check out my Kitchenaid whisk review. I now understand why Kitchenaid is only offering a one year warranty. Below is the original review.

Amazingly, it does a faster and quieter job on thicker smoothies than the professional blender I killed after a year of use. It also flawlessly blends soups, even spinach soup. So why am I giving it 4 stars rather than 5? First, the mixing jar needs a pour spout so that my smoothies don't pour all over my counter. Second, the whisk splatters when beating cream or eggs, even on a very slow speed. Third, the button needs to be constantly pressed to operate instead of having a stay on mode which gets annoying during longer blending times. If kitchenaid made these few minor changes, they would have a blender as close to perfection as possible.

I have had this for almost 5 months and use this for almost everything. The chopping accessory is great for onions, tomatoes, etc. I do a lot of Indian cooking and this is a huge time saver. Easy to clean. A ton of power. Have had to use my regular hand blender as this has so many accessories. The balloon wisk is great for whipped cream, and egg whites, etc. Cannot recc. this enough. Use this every time I cook.

this was a replacement for an older hand blender that was ok but starting to go. I have been a fan of these style blenders for space efficiency and versatility, so I wanted something quality. I was between this and the cuisinart stainless blender for less money, but the reviews sold me on this one. I wanted the stainless to avoid the plastic, and that this one had the 8" immersion was a great plus. it is a great purchase; I use the hand blender st least a few times a week for soups or hummus or just about anything else. if you like to cook, this will make your experience much more efficient. overall, a great addition to any kitchen.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful while it lasts... but it doesn't for long., October 28, 2010

I received my first Kitchenaid immersion blender as a wedding gift a few years ago. I am a die-hard Kitchenaid fan; my stand mixer is one of my most prized and most-used possessions. I also own their coffee grinder and a few other gadgets, and have always found their quality and longevity outstanding, along with their customer service policies when my stand mixer had "issues". In that circumstance it was making a funny noise and smelled hot--I called customer service and they shipped out a replacement the same day. The same warranty/customer service policies do not apply to their immersion blenders.
My first one died after about a year and a half of moderate use. I make soups about once a week on average and would occasionally use it for pesto or dips. One day it smelled hot and just up and quit. I called customer service but their warranty on this gadget only lasts a year. The lady I talked to was very nice about it and implied that mine was an unfortunately common complaint. I was hoping I could buy just a replacement motor since the stick and blade was still perfectly fine. They don't offer that option so I ended up buying a whole new blender. That one lasted fourteen months. I wouldn't have bought a third one, but a friend gave me one that had been sitting in a box in her kitchen for years... that one lasted just about exactly the same length of time.

Durability and longevity make a big difference to me, and on that basis I would rate this product one star. Unfortunate as I am still a great fan of their other gadgets. The extra star is for the fact that while it works, it's absolutely wonderful. After a month or two of use I abandoned my regular blender and food chopper entirely. If you only plan to use it very rarely then it may last much longer in your kitchen. As for me, I've now upgraded to a Waring commercial immersion blender with a 1hp motor.

This gadget is great. Its powerful motor chops food easily, makes a great smoothie in a flash, and is easy to clean. What else could you ask for in a handheld blender?

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Easy to Clean, June 27, 2009
This review is from: KitchenAid KHB300WH Hand Blender, White (Kitchen)
I have used this machine several times for tasks that I would have skipped with my big glass blender. The KitchenAid Immersion Blender hardly requires anything more than a quick rinse under the faucet and its ready to use for something else. My only wish is that it could be run at about half speed of the lowest setting for "muddling" and chopping soup ingredients without pureeing them.

5.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Hand Blender, June 28, 2009

We recently replaced our Cuisinart hand blender that lasted a year and half with the KitchenAid. I researched online for the one with the best ratings.

We use ours daily to make smoothies for breakfast, so it is put through its paces. I do like the fact that it has 9 speed settings, which allow you to slightly mash up to whip items. It has a more powerful motor than the Cuisinart and the mixing cup is 3 cups vs 2 cups with the Cuisinart.

This model also comes with a chopper and a whisk. We decided these were great additions to have as well and have come in handy with less cleanup than using a standard blender.

Unfortunately, this model has the same weak point as the Cuisinart. In the main body where the stick attaches, the piece that holds the stick and controls it is only made of a hard plastic. This is what broke on the Cuisinart, but we are hoping that it does not happen with the this one and that it last longer than a year and a half.
