Great Juicer @ Times/Manual don't describe Trick of Cleaning,
This review is from: KitchenAid KJE500WH Juicer and Citrus Press, White (Kitchen)
REVIEW:----------------- This Juicer is a Great juicer, and if you know the ""Trick"" to cleaning it, well its a snap and makes this juicer a realy great Juicer.---------- First off, it is very quiet while juicing, and is juices very smoothly, no shimmying across counter top, like some customers have stated of other juicers. It does not foam up, and I have been able to juice over a gallon of juice, with only having having to spend 40 second to lift out baket, scoop out the pulp, and reassemble the juicer, before you are off again.-------- The citrus fruit juicer attachment, which is included at no extra cost, is well made with two sizes to juice large and small citrus fruit. It has safety features that will insure safe opperation while juicing citrus fruit, (some other brand juicers, will require you to purchase the juicer attachment at an additional price). The citrus fruit stainer is so great, you could can juice boxes of citrus fruit, while only having to stop and empty the citrus strainer after every about 30 medium peaces of citrus fruit.-------------------------------------For cleaning, it comes apart very quickly, without any difficulty, there is only two peices too take apart from the base unit.-----------------------------------------After spending many hours of researching the specs of different juicers out there. Then reading several customer reviews for many of the juicers sold by Amazon.com. I decided to purchase this KitchenAid Juicer.---------------------------------- And there was only one negative review concerning the KitchenAid Dual Function Juicer, about difficulty cleaning small food out of strainer, THERE IS A SIMPLE TRICK TO CLEANING!!! ------------------------------------ First off, the "Shaped Spatula", looks like part of the packing material, and was almost trashed, lucky I have always insisted, all packing materials are saved, and not put into the trash. Because if you loose this special shaped spatula, you might as well forget about cleaning this juicer.-----------------------------------TRICK TO CLEANING: Take the basket & the special designed spatula. Using the shorter size of the spatula scrap / scoop the left over fruit material out of the strainer basket.----------------------Then use the specially designed spatula's shorter side to scrap with on the outside of the basket. it will fit pefectly. Then put it under running water, and scrape the outside of the strainer basket, it will scrap off the the pulp that is stuck through the micro screen basket. As you turn the strainer and scrape under the running water, you will see how easyly the strainer basket is cleaned.................. Then repeat the process on the inside of the strainer basket while under runing water. Once you see the pulp clean from the strainer basket's inne sides. --------------- Then the next step is to cup your hand under the strainer, (vertical held), while the water is running. Since the pulp floats in water, the slight remaining pulp will float in the pool od water you have created, Then slightly tilt the stainer, and the floating pulp will float over the rim and out of your stainer. Leaving the strainer fairly clean. Repeat the prpocess as needed.---------------------------------------I am juicing 4-5 times each day, sometime as much as a gallon of juice at a time. It cleans quickly and juicer quickly and quietly. I am very happy with this product!!! I strongly recomend this item.Jeff

Overhyped product that doesn't deliver,

I reviewed most of the juicers on ... and many other major sites and decided that the KitchenAid was the best product on the market. After receiving it, I changed my mind. Although it promises to be an easy cleanup with a "special tool", it is way too hard to clean up. The pulp basket contains a ridge that makes it next to impossible to get out all of the little strains of pulp. The special tool is great for getting out the big stuff, but not the little stuff. Also, there is a TON of juice left over in the pulp that gets thrown away. This is a result of the poor design, which filters the juice through the pulp before exiting. The product had a nice design and looked good on my counter-top, but it did not deliver. I would recommend buying Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer that is available on other sites.

Works Well, But Very Dainty,

This review is from: KitchenAid KJE500WH Juicer and Citrus Press, White (Kitchen)
I purchased this Kitchenaid juicer almost two years ago. Through normal wear and tear, I had to send the first juicer back on warranty after about six months. Although the replacement was quick and satisfactory, within a few months the new juicer had succumbed to many of the same problems and then some!
First, this juicer is held together by little plastic pieces that can easily be broken when disassembling for cleaning. On both of the juicers that I've had the snaps on the citrus attacments have broke, the snaps that hold the spigot in place have snapped off, and now, on the one replaced by warranty, the base has even started to crack. Although none of the damage prevents me from using it, it's a major pain in the butt and requires some extra manuvering. Given the large asking price for this juicer, I would look elsewhere to prevent the hassle.

Clean up is messy no matter which machine you buy: I found that if I turn the basket upside down to soak in water for awhile, it helps make for easier clean up. I also saved the cylindrical piece of foam packing that fits over the spindle, and hold that tightly in place when I rinse water thru the machine. The piece of foam keeps excessive water from flowing into the motor housing and allows quick-easy clean up. KitchenAide does make excellent, durable products; quiet and dependable. The only thing that would make this perfect for the gallon juicers would be a pulp extractor port, otherwise for someone like me who just makes a quart of juice at a time, this is not a problem. The pulp that is left behind is moist, not juicy, and to my understanding the only way to get dry pulp is to purchase a very expensive masticating juicer.

We love it!!,
This review is from: KitchenAid KJE500WH Juicer and Citrus Press, White (Kitchen)
This is our first juicer and we are have a great time juicing everything. We use it a lot with our smoothie maker.
It is designed well and is very easy to clean. It does drip a bit for a while from the spout but that isn't a problem at all. We got this because we have a 2 year old and a 16 year old. We wanted to make it easy to give them great tasting sweets that are good for them. My 16 year old son loves apple juice and makes it all the time now-- no more soda in our house!!

powerful motor, poor design,

I have owned this juicer for more than 5 years already and it has never failed. The motor is very powerful which is the best feature of this juicer, it will last for a long time as it still works as good as when I bought it. There are a few things I can say about this juicer that are not well designed and some that are really good. The juicer for carrots and apples etc, really gets all the juice out of the vegetables because all the pulp stays in the strainer, which after a a few vegetables fills up and has to be emptied. its an easy and fast clean up, i find it easier to clean the strainer with a spoon rather than the spatula it comes with. Also when the strainer is full, the juicer sometimes unbalances and it starts rocking and turning, which you have to hold it with one hand while juicing with the other. the citrus juicer strainer does not move, so a lot of juice is wasted with the pulp, whish it had an oscillating strainer, but it does get all the juice out of the citrus fruits whick i like.

Excellent juicer,

Powerful motor & quiet and it doesn't shake as other viewer said. It extracts almost everything out. For clean up, it's not a smart design part yet. It should be removable the top part out for clean instead of use damp clothes. You can't find other juicer at price $120.00 good as this one.

The best juicer I've ever used. Brings Kitchenaid quality to a product that can be anything but with other brands. Easy to clean up and especially quiet!

I've had this juicer for about 2 months now. The spigot is not solid in the back and when the juice flow slows down, it has a tendency to leak out the back and out onto the counter between the upper chamber and lower motor sections. At this point, I'm taping the back of my spigot so it appears to be solid to stop all my juice from ending up on the counter.
While making 1 or 2 drinks at a time is easy without having to stop too often to clean the basket, it is very cumbersome when you are trying to get all your juice lined up for a day at the office. If you're like me and need to stock up for the day and don't have all morning to clean a fiber basket, you may want to consider a different juicer. I intent to keep this one until it burns out and then replace it with a better model. However, if you're only going to juice 1 or 2 glasses at a time, this juicer works well and is easy to operate and clean. Oh yeah, the Citrus press works like a champ. Although I have a tendency to throw my lemons and limes in with the other vegetables and only use the citrus press for Oranges and Grapefruits. |
