5.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Pro Line Food Processor
I have a commercial kitchen and this is the perfect size for my small business. I love the flexibility of the 3 different sized bowls. Heavy duty and easy to use.

3.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid KPFP850PM Pro Line Food Processor, Pearl Metallic
I used to own the KFP670WH which was rated #1 by Consumer Reports and was great but unfortunately now discontinued!

I recently had to buy another food processor and saw KitchenAid had the "Tim Taylor" version of my previous model. I am quite disappointed with it and don't think it is worth the $450 I paid.

3.0 out of 5 stars KitchenAid KPFP850PM Pro Line Food Processor, Pearl Metallic, September 25, 2005

It is massive! Eats up counter space.

The shredder disk only comes in a 4mm version which I don't like for grating carrots or other similar vegetables. It is too coarse. They also didn't include reversible disks so you could increase your shredding options as you can with its smaller counterpart model.

When using the chef's bowl and the shredding disk, the outer bowl gets dirty on the rim so you still have to wash it. When grating carrots this is not good! Carrots stain the plastic so you end up washing two bowls.

Large pieces of carrots get lodged between the disk and the cover so you have to open the cover and remove the food.

I haven't used it extensively but I have contacted Kitchenaid and expressed my dissatisfaction.

Bigger is not always better

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing product with serious design flaw. Don't waste your $, January 16, 2007

This food processor seemed perfect - large enough and powerful enough to do almost anything! However, it was brought to its knees by grating cheese. I tried to grate mozzerella for pizza and the top flew off, spraying cheese everywhere. I called Kitchaid and they suggested I had a faulty item, and offered to exchanged it. The same thing happened with the next one.. and the next one... To Kitchaid's credit, they handled the exchanges very well. Finally, Kitchaid replaced my food processor with another model - a 12 cup smaller version, which has been fabulous, and grates mozzeralla just fine. I called recently to find out if they have addressed this design flaw as I really liked the idea of such a large powerful machine, but was told the design was not changed. I feel it is irresponsible of Kitchenaid to keep selling a product with an obvious problem. Don't waste your money on this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS!, August 7, 2007

This review is from: KitchenAid KPFP850PM Pro Line Food Processor, Pearl Metallic (Kitchen)
I have had this machine for about a year, and I use it fairly often. The poor bowl design that gets BOTH bowls dirty when you use either of the smaller insert bowls has been an annoyance, but was (sort of) balanced out by the power and control, which are good. However - last night the top blew off and the large bowl locking mechanism broke when I was grating cheese. Other reviewers have had the exact same problem. I wish I had seen those reviews before I spent all that money. Kitchenaid needs to redesign the bowl system completely, and I would strongly recommend not buying this unit until they do.

This appliance is a design nightmare. There are insert bowls which are supposed to give increased versatility for small projects. However the main bowl is notcompletly covered by the inserts and if you are grating cheese the grated cheese gets into both bowls and around the rims. The edges of the bowls, the tops and the grater disks have rims and crannies that get coated in whatever you are working with and have to be cleaned with a toothpick or knife tip. Today I was grating motzarella and the top sprang off while grating, spraying the entire coutertop with grated cheese. I thought perhaps it had not locked completly and tried again, again it popped off at the back and the motor kept turning spraying cheese and presenting a saftey hazard. I have had Cuisinarts for 30 years and when the last one started looking a bit grubby I decided to try Kitchen Aid because of its good rating. Boy do I feel ripped off.The Cuisinart cleanup was 5 minutes, even when this food processor works properly there is a 20 minute cleanup. In short Beware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly The Most Powerful Processor Out There!! Cuisinart, Eat Yout Heart Out!!!, March 22, 2009
By
Daquan13 (East Boston, MA.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid KPFP850PM Pro Line Food Processor, Pearl Metallic (Kitchen)
I've had this food processor for almost three years now! I got it during the late spring of '06, and let me tell you, this machine truly has what it takes to get the job done!! It has stood up to every processing job without even batting an eyelash!! Every job that I assigned it to, it comes out as a true winner!

It has a very powerful & robust commercial-grade induction motor, 1,000 watts to be exact - not the 950 watts as stated above. The most powerful one that you can ever get in ANY home food processor.

And just to clear up some of the misconceptions about this machine;

1. Yes, ALL of the work bowls will tend to get dirty a little when only the mini bowl is used. Or the main work bowl when the chefs' bowl is used. But you would have to wash all of the bowls anyway if you're using all three. So that isn't a problem with me. It's good practice anyway, to squash the chances of encountering any hard food residue and the possible growth of any germs & bacteria! You can just pop them in your dishwasher's top rack.

2. There are reviews stating that the cover blew off or flew off the work bowl when trying to shred mozzerella cheese. Parmasan and Parmasiano Reggiano are two of the hardest known cheeses, and to see if this would happen with mine, I've just tried it out, since I haven't shredded cheese with it before until today. I was a bit worried that it might happen.

But it DIDN'T! The spinning shredder disk made a bit of a racket, as is expected with hard cheese, but it quieted down once the cheese was shredded. The cover stayed on and engaged with the bowl and didn't even come loose at all! Proof that this machine does what K'Aid says that it will do!!

The disk DID however, get a little warm from the small stubs of cheese rubbing on it, but in no way was the machine or the disk in any danger of breaking!

And if the machine can get past this, and it did, then the rest is real easy! Things that can stop a lesser machine are DUCK SOUP for this one! It is more powerful than Cuisinart and that other machine, the Magimix! It easily trounces over those wimpy machines with no trouble at all!!

The .4.5-cups mini bowl is used for small chopping jobs like garlic, herbs and small amounts of onions. The 13-cups chef bowl is for slicing and shreding only, and the huge 16-cups main work bowl is used for chopping and processing larger quantities of stuff as well as for kneading bread dough.

The bowls themselves along with the lid and pusher assembly are made of the toughest polycarbonate material available and it actually thicker than all other brands! On /off and pulse buttons and a blue indicator light.

Yes, this unit has it all! And you won't find any other home processor in the world like it!! It's the absolute best!! It's simple; You can buy a cheaper inferior quality machine and have to replace it in about a year or so. Or you can get this unit and not have to replace it for a long, long, long, long, long time!! Buy quality once or buy crap forever!!

~Daquan13.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!!, January 25, 2011
This review is from: KitchenAid KPFP850PM Pro Line Food Processor, Pearl Metallic (Kitchen)
Used it for 6 months, when SUDDENLY the shaft got swollen (heating problem?) and cannot put ANY disc inside anymore. Call service repair, they charge $35 only to tell me what the problem is...Gave up, thinking to buy a Cuisinart.

don't BUY IT, can be the most powerful, but junk!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, April 10, 2011
This review is from: KitchenAid KPFP850PM Pro Line Food Processor, Pearl Metallic (Kitchen)
I replaced an aging Cuisinart with this beast. There really is not comparison to a regular food processor - this machine is fantastic. I appreciate that others claim to have problems with their units, but that has NOT been my experience. This workhorse kneads large batches of high gluten bread effortlessly, something that bogs down regular machines. Chops, slices and purees perfectly. If you can still find one, make the buy. Highly recommended.
