Not quite enough capacity,
By
This review is from: KitchenAid KTT261 Ultra Power Plus 2-Slice Toaster, White (Kitchen)
Kitchenaid is a trustworthy brand. They give great service via an 800 number with a real person at the other end, and a good warranty. The appliances are nearly always well thought-out. These relatively expensive toasters are quietly good-looking, they come in colors, and work well. So of course I wanted one. This toaster takes up comparatively little space on a countertop, a real plus. Its sensible and visually pleasing control panel is a pleasure. However, it promises to toast two slices of bread at a time in its "extra-wide slot." (The Amazon Editorial Reviewer mentions "the slots," which is misleading. There is only one slot.) In fact, the slot will accept two halves of bagel and toast them to your specifications (and the settings feature is excellent), but due to its dimensions the slot will not, for example, accept two slices of conventional (packaged) rye bread, or a couple of slices of a variety of other bread types. There just isn't the room. Part of the slices will stick out of the top. Not so good! Evidently that's the tradeoff for the appealing sleekness and size of this appliance. Not enough capacity, though. I'll wait for a "four slice" version.

Squashed Engish muffins!,
By kidsncatsndogs (Stamford, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid KTT261 Ultra Power Plus 2-Slice Toaster, Onyx Black (Kitchen)
Yup, it's real pretty and takes up very little counter space, but we're big consumers of English muffins, and this applinace just can't handle them--they come out squished on the bottom and don't pop out high enough to remove without sticking a fork into the toaster, which of course requires any sane person to unplug the toaster first. The "not popping high enough" problem occurs with other items as well, and yes, I used the doohickey that pushes the toast up higher and that still wasn't enough. All told, pretty average performance for a very high-priced product, unless you're in it for the looks alone.

Great for frozen stuff,
By A Customer
This review is from: KitchenAid KTT261 Ultra Power Plus 2-Slice Toaster, Cobalt Blue (Kitchen)
Let me say first that I am a Toaster Strudel and Toaster Scrambler fanatic. If you've ever tried these things in a normal toaster you know that to get the inside hot you usually burn the outside. Not with THIS toaster. The FROZEN button pre-heats for a little while before cranking the heat to maximum. This thing does a great job with frozen pastries. No more burnt outsides. Another thing, the slot is long enough you can load up three Toaster Strudels side-by-side. For Toaster Strudel perfection with 3 pastries hit the frozen button and set the darkness control to 7. Code-slingers take note...get one of these for your break room.

Versatile and reliable,

We have used this toaster (white version) daily for more than one year for everything from frozen whole grain bread to supermarket bread to baguettes to bagels. If I were improving it, I would have the top setting toast a little "hotter" or longer; dense whole grain breads need to be toasted twice, once at ten and again at three or four to get to the degree of doneness we like.

Beautiful....And It Does The Job Beautifully!,
This review is from: KitchenAid KTT261 Ultra Power Plus 2-Slice Toaster, Cobalt Blue (Kitchen)
I recently received this toaster as a housewarming gift and have had fun with it ever since. Fun with a toaster, you ask? Yes. The construction is ultra sturdy and the digitally controlled browning feature works perfectly. Also, if you buy thickly sliced homemade bread, oversized bagels or toaster waffles, this toaster will accomodate them without a problem. This toaster will spoil you for all other toasters. If you are looking for quality, skip the inferior, cheap alternatives and make the investment. I anticipate using this quality toaster for many years to come.

Faulty Mechanisim,
By David M Dodson (Virginia Beach, VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: KitchenAid KTT261 Ultra Power Plus 2-Slice Toaster, Almond Cream (Kitchen)
We received this toaster as a gift just a little over a year ago. Just like one of the other reviewers, the mechanism that holds the toast down quit working. It's out of warranty now so Kitchen-Aid won't do anything. Kitchen-Aid must have a massive issue with this mechanisim but they apparently are hoping nobody makes a big deal about a ...toaster. Well it is a big deal and I urge everyone who has this problem to call Kitchen-Aid at their service number . How about a recall Kitchen-Aid, not for a safety issue but to take care of your customers?

The worst toaster for the max price!,
By A Customer
This review is from: KitchenAid KTT261 Ultra Power Plus 2-Slice Toaster, Empire Red (Kitchen)
Kitchen Aid replaced the first one I bought, because it toasted so unevenly and poorly. The second one was even worse, and even at the highest setting, had to be pushed down a second time to get real toast! They then offered me a "buy-back", but I didn't get the paperwork for that. I'm stuck with an expensive toaster that doesn't work. Don't buy this one.

Eye and taste appealing!,

This toaster makes the best toast ever. I have bought several cheaper styles of toastaers and they do not come close. In this case, paying more makes all the differnce in the world. To top it off it looks great and has great push button key pad to set the perfect darkness. Love the color, empire green, looks good on the kitchen counter!

A Winner!,

I just threw out my Cuisinart toaster; it was supposed to be 'state of the art' and it was [junk].... Just unplugged it one day and threw it out. So after remodeling my kitchen with Kitchenaid appliances, I figured I'd give their toaster a go. And like everything else I've bought from them (stove, refrigerator, mixers, blender), the toaster is a keeper. I make my own bread and the slices are somewhat larger than store-bought bread, and this machine handles that easily. I definetely recommend this toaster!

The price is worth it if you've ever owned 10 cheap toasters,
By A Customer
This review is from: KitchenAid KTT261 Ultra Power Plus 2-Slice Toaster, Empire Red (Kitchen)
Love it, love it, love it! I've had this toaster for about five years and it's the best I've ever owned and well worth the...price. I have had many (cheaper) toasters over the years and they never ever last, much less toast very uniformly. This mondel is a performer, in my opinion...I think it may have some minor limitations, but I know what they are and use other appliances. That is why they make the oven, the microwave, and the toaster oven, after all. Again, couldn't imagine using any other!
