Functions well, but design isn't my cup of tea,

DESIGN: My main concern for not rating this kettle a 5 star kettle is the lever that you must switch back in order to pour. I prefer to press a lever on the handle or a Pick Me Up type. I shouldn't criticize this because I knew of this before I made the purchase, but it just adds a step to boiling water that I'd rather avoid. COLOR: The main reason I bought this kettle was because of the BEAUTIFUL color. The color is just AWESOME! It really does add a retro touch to the kitchen. It is simply a beautiful piece of art sitting on your stove-top. If you'd like check out the short video, I disprove 2 myths (whistle isn't loud, handle is hot) that I've read by other reviewers, and shows off the kettle in action.

Pretty and Functional,

This review is from: KitchenAid Cook For the Cure Limited Edition 2-Quart Stainless-Steel Teakettle with Pink Silicone (Kitchen)
I bought this tea kettle to add to my collection of pink KitchenAid appliances, but it turned out to be a really great purchase. The tea kettle is pretty in stainless steel and has only a touch of pink on the silicone handle. It has a loud noticeable whistle that lets you know when your water is ready and is easy to use and handle. I've read the other reviews that state that the pot gets overly hot, but that only happens if you use a grill size that is too large for the kettle. If you read the directions before use, it specifically says to use a burner compatible with the size of the kettle, this easily solves that problem. The spout is large and the kettle is easy to fill, whether throught the lid or the spout. Again, this is a KitchenAid product and has great waranty coverage and excellent customer service. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested.

Great tea kettle with silicone handle - brushed steel version.,

This review is from: KitchenAid Cook For the Cure Limited Edition 2-Quart Stainless-Steel Teakettle with Pink Silicone (Kitchen)
I got my brushed steel Tea Kettle as a housewarming present, and I have not had any problems with it. It works great on both electric and gas stoves. The handle does get a little warm due to some heat transferance between the metal of the pot and the silicone, but I've never had to use any pot holders with it as it's never been uncomfortable. It pours smooth, is easy to use, and I like the fact that it has both a whistle that can be lifted up to pour and a removable lid so I can put tea bags directly inside the pot when it's finished boiling so I have a pot-o-tea. Easy to clean with that removable lid, too.

My Green Tea Kettle,

This review is from: KitchenAid Teakettle 2-Quart Gourmet Essentials Porcelain Enamel Kettle , Green Apple (Kitchen)
This tea kettle is a great color; really perks up the kitchen, but it has a few drawbacks. First, it can't be put over high heat without the enamel blistering and then flaking off, and when you put it on medium heat as it says to, it takes eons to boil. Secondly, it has the most feeble whistle I have ever heard. Unless you are hovering over it, you won't hear it. On the up side, it is really pretty. You might want to keep it on the stove just for looks, but unfortunately, you're better off with a plain stainless steel kettle that really whistles. Read the reviews in Google. Also, you'll save money and get something that works!

I bought this item to go with my pink kitchen, This item would be great except it it almost impossible to keep the shine it. It whistles really loud, I love it. The pink part on the handle is a rubber material and if you get any thing on it it does stain. this item would be great for decor but not practicle for use if you want it to stay shiney and pink.

i like it a lot,

The handle of my previous kettle, a VERY HEAVY black ceramic (would you believe it?) sculptural, Brazilian "Flame-ware" container, broke off in my hand, as i was about to pour boiling water. I had enjoyed it for 5 years. The kettle had been "recalled" but i didn't know it, until it broke and almost injured me. I aesthetically loved that object. But I had to 'let it go'. I was indecisive about a replacement. I considered electric kettles, but decided that they contained another layer of technology (plastic switches) to break and discard. I studied all the possibilities available and read the reviews and chose this in willow blue because: stainless steel and the plastic is heat resistant silicone, and it is basically a simple container.
I like it. Because i have a high BTU Viking range, i do have to pare the flame down to medium so that the silicone near the spout doesn't soften (the printed instructions recommend this). The kettle comes to a boil efficiently and holds its heat well. It pours safely and cleanly. Its whistle is a helpful reminder but not obnoxious. The lid lifts easily and pleasantly for filling (I can't fill through the spout). The arched semi-circles of the kettle are somehow both lovely and ergonomic. My liking increases daily ( a month of use now). It may turn into love...

I loved this kettle until...,

...the inside rusted out - big, orange, ugly spots bursting through the interior coating. I've had it for about 2 years, and I've used it just about every day. I'm thinking of sending it back to Kitchenaid, but I don't know if they'll do anything about it. Hard to believe a kettle this expensive isn't more durable. It should be.

A good looking tea kettle and seems to be quite sturdy, though I've only had it a few weeks. Not heavy, but dense enough to make you feel it won't ever burn through. The water has to boil like crazy in order for the whistle to get going, so you might wait longer than necessary if you're listening for that sound. The only real disappointment: there's a device connected to the spout that's constructed to seem as if you can flip it and it'll keep the spout open while you pour. But you end up having to hold that open with your finger anyway. Otherwise a fine and aesthetically nifty item.

Great tea pot!,

This review is from: KitchenAid Gourmet Essentials 2-Quart Porcelain Tea Kettle in Willow Blue (Kitchen)
I used to use steel tea pots but they would always rust or become discolored on the outside of the pot when being used on a gas stove. They were really hard to keep clean! But this KitchenAid porcelain teapot is great! It washes easy, gets really hot fast, and the whistle is loud so you can hear it from anywhere in your house. I would have given it 5 stars, though, if it weren't for the combination metal and "rubber" handle. It looks really sharp, but you have to use a pot holder to pick up the kettle to pour your tea. A full rubber handle or heat resistant metal would have been better.
