5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toaster
The mfg quality is impressive, I don't believe I've ever seen a toaster that appears to be built to such high standards. I love how quickly it toasts AND actually heats up whatever item we toast. The levers move smoother than a regular toaster, and the signal is loud enough, and at the right frequency for my hard of hearing husband to hear. Still getting used to what...

I bought this toaster thinking that I was buying a high end commercial grade toaster that would last for many years. I WAS MISKAKEN! KitchenAid did a great job making the exterior of this toaster very heavy duty and high quality so that you would think the actual insides of the toaster are equally high quality, but in reality this is a $10 toaster with a fancy exterior. Do not let the "Pro Line" name fool you. There is nothing professional abut this toaster. It has a retro look leading you to believe that the quality might be equivalent to toasters made in the 40's or 50's when most things were made well in the USA and were built to last for decades. Back then the heating element was a heavy duty coiled spring and these toasters were good or 30 years+. This toaster uses the thin metal strips for the heating element, the same as a $10 toaster. Also, this toaster has an on/off knob that breaks easily....mine broke off after three years of light duty home use, and when I called Kitchen Aid customer service to see about getting a replacement toaster, they informed me that the knob cannot be replaced and that it is non repairable...basically said sorry sucker, go buy a new toaster. Congratulations to the marketing team at Kitchen Aid for selling a $10 toaster for $250...you deceived people into thinking they were buying a quality product that was not really high quality...and you lost a customer for life!

Still getting used to what settings to use for what we toast, but we'll figure it out eventually. The only dissapointment is that the length of the slots aren't as long as the product description stated. We thought they would handle a piece of rye bread, but they don't.

This is a serious toaster. It is simple, quick and elegant (if a toaster can be elegant?) and makes perfect toast every time! With only an on/off switch and toasting amount dial for each pair of slots it is easy to control. I particularly like the that toasted product does not pop-up but stays warm in the toaster until you bring it out via the lever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Toaster I Have Ever Used, June 30, 2011

My wife and I love our new KitchenAid Pro Line Series 4-Slice Toaster. It is the handiest and simplest toaster I have ever used. Controls are easy to understand. We use it for toast of various sizes, English muffins, and bagels. Everything gets nicely toasted, and we have burned nothing yet. The two independent sides allow flexibility, and it's a breeze to inspect in mid-cycle or to extend for a little more time. For us, it was a great choice.
