This is usually a $19 item.

The KitchenAid site is useless for telling you which models of KitchenAid hand mixers this works with.

Some sites say it works with ALL KitchenAid hand mixers, but one I found says:

I bought the KitchenAid hand mixer. I had read the reviews, mostly about being underpowered, but I wanted KitchenAid so that's what I bought. I agreed with the reviews. Then - I bought the whisk attachment. I could not believe how fast the heavy cream whipped with that whisk. The cream was whipped firm in less than a minute. I'm used to hand mixers taking 3-4 minutes, but this was done very quickly. I strongly recommend this attachment.KitchenAid Hand Mixer Stainless Steel Pro Whisk

The balloon whisk attachment (a single whisk) does improve beating of egg whites as it incorporates more air than the standard beaters. However, a stand mixer with double beaters does a faster and more complete job. For the times when you need to quickly beat up something and don't want to drag out the heavy stand mixer this is ideal. The beater is inserted into one of the holes (directions are fuzzy about which) and it does NOT have the "collar" (found on one of the beaters). A call to customer service determined that the directions in the manual are not correct and it doesn't matter which side the whisk is inserted (A or B). To prevent splattering, a tall bowl is recommended.

I have the 5-speed KitchenAid hand mixer which did NOT come with this wisk. So I bought it. It workes great for egg whites for mixing into waffles!

When I bought my new hand mixer, I was skeptical about using a single whip attachment instead instead of the pair as my old model required: I thought my eggs and cream wouldn't be as light or airy. This whisk proved me wrong. You'll love it.

I wanted this accessory for larger whipping jobs. It works fine, but is a bit flimsy compared to a regular hand whisk. Also manufacturer's price for an accessory is much too high.

This product is especially useful in whipping egg whites in a flash. Easily attatches. Able to be cleaned in the dishwasher.

Up until now, I thought I needed to buy an expensive hand blender set to get an automatic whisk feature. This attachment for an ordinary hand mixer is the superior choice. The mixer can be run for 3-5 minutes straight, which is how long it takes to make a decent hollandaise sauce. A hand blender can only be run a max of 30 seconds at a time and the power button must be held down the entire time, which is very difficult for a person with arthritis.

With this whisk, I can turn the mixer on to medium speed and make an entire batch of hollandaise sauce with no effort at all. This also applies to meringues, whipped cream, and a whole lot of other things that I would use a whisk for. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. If you already have a KitchenAid hand mixer, this is an inexpensive alternative to a fancy hand blender. Get the cheap blender and this and you've got just about everything covered.
