The shapes and sizes are fine and the rubber on the bottom is nice. I have only handwashed these and they are easy to handle because they are so lightweight. On the other hand the lightness makes them feel cheap and flimsy, If I had paid regular price for these I would be very upset but I bought them on sale and it was easier to keep them. The color is a dark muddy red, not that attractive, it looks nicer on my computer monitor. What bothers me the most is the sharpness of the top edge, especially the spout. The edge is actually sharper than my stainless dinner knives, you couldn't cut yourself it just feels bad when washing or drying the bowls. Since I paid less than half price using the sale price and buy 4 get 1 free I can't complain. The regular price is outrageous!

They melt in the dishwasher,

They say dishwasher-safe, however, they melt in the lower rack of the dishwasher (the only place they fit). They were ok until dishwashing.

Great plastic mixing bowls, a bit pricey...,

I like these bowls, but have a couple of 'negatives'...the positives are that they have rubber grips on the bottom to help them stay put, and the capacities are clearly marked on the bottoms. In addition, they have pouring spouts. Now the negatives: I think that for the Clearance Price, they're a bit thin. It would have been helpful for Amazon to put the construction (i.e., plastic) in the product description, and when I went to the Kitchenaid site, they didn't have it there either! The other negative is that I expected them to match my Kitchenaid Empire Red stand mixer, but they are a shade darker. All in all, I'm pleased, but not overwhelmingly so.

I use these mixing bowls on a weekly basis and have yet to experience any problems with them. I had a set a few years back and needed more and was delightfully surprised as they had improved the bowls. My set from 2008 was much more flimsy whereas this updated version is thick and very sturdy. It has a slip guard at the base to hold it in place if you choose not to place your hand on the bowl. They are dishwasher safe but not microwave safe. The color is true to the picture as well.

A KitchenAid Must-Have!,

I needed mixing bowls and on a whim, I purchased a pretty set with a name I recognized. Mine is a slightly different set from this one in color only - I have three different-colored bowls (springy blue, green, & yellow). I LOVE these bowls. They are so extremely versatile; we use them for just about anything, from eating popcorn to mixing cake. The rubber-grip bottom means it's not going to move around when I use an electric hand mixer, either! They fit well in the bottom rack of my dishwasher, and I have NEVER had any problems putting them in there. When the dishwasher is too full, washing by hand is a breeze. I actually like that they are not a heavier plastic. Another family member has a mixing bowl set (not KitchenAid) that is a very clunky, heavy material, and I didn't like her set. This lighter plastic makes them more versatile, in my opinion. They are easier to wash, store, and use. Their plastic is lighter but that doesn't necessarily mean "cheaper" and the durability has proven that - they've withstood a lot of beatings in the 3 years we've had them!

STAY AWAY....,
This review is from: KitchenAid Professional Series Red Mixing Bowls, Set of 3 (Kitchen)
I have these bowls. I used my hand mixer (these are "mixing bowls") to make mashed potatoes. When I was finished, I noticed my mashed potatoes had tons of tiny red specks throughout. Don't buy these unless you like to eat plastic!

Don't buy unless you want pieces of plastic in your food,
This review is from: KitchenAid Professional Series Red Mixing Bowls, Set of 3 (Kitchen)
I used these with no problem for a year but then noticed that the inside of the bowl used most often was scratched by the whisks of my mixer. I didn't even realize it until I was whipping heavy cream one day and noticed teeny tiny red plastic chips in my cream. The cream was full of little red particles coming off the sides of the bowl while mixing. I wonder how many times I ate those plastic particles not noticing if the food mixed in them was darker. I threw all the bowls out at an instant.

Good quality but overpriced,

Good product, but unfortunately I have seen it in stores for much less money, first time I overpaid on Amazon, very disappointing.
