Install this plastic spice/herb storage-and-dispensing unit under a cabinet (mount included) or place it in a cupboard or on your countertop. The carousel holds 12 dispensers and rotates 360 degrees, providing instant access to a whole shelf of spices and dried herbs. Buy two carousels and stack them with an adaptor (included) so 24 spices and herbs can be stored compactly. Each dispenser offers three methods of dispensing contents. First, an automatic measurer operates by turning a dial; with each click of the dial, 1/4 teaspoon of the selected spice or herb cascades from the dispenser's bottom. Second, each dispenser has a shaker top. Finally, each dispenser has an opening large enough to accommodate measuring spoons. (This is also the opening through which you fill the dispensers.) I have had this product for 8 yrs - before the internet! I make a meal for my husband & family every nite & could hardly live without this product. It really eliminates the need to wash & dry measuring spoons and takes all the hassle out of making dishes with many ingredients - at least you don't have to get a utensil out for measuring spices. I have had this product in 3 homes (I'm a military spouse) and it has been able to mount under the cabinets in 2 houses thus saving me valuable counterspace & cabinet space due to the small kitchens in military housing. I would highly reccommend this to those who like to cook in tight spaces. Every move, I just empty the spices & run the canister thru the dishwasher, then set out to dry. Of course, the labels had started to come off after 7 years so I simply printed out some new "cutesy" labels for those spices I constantly measure. As I remember, the labels that came with the package included most every spice you could ever want. Money well spent -- 8 yrs ago my hubby bought this for me & it has survived a lot of cooking and moves.

I received this item as a gift two Christmases ago, and as an avid cook, I was excited. As all the other reviews stated, the carousel conveniently organizes and dispenses.

My issue with the product is that it doesn't seal the contents well. After about a week or two, the dried herbs quickly turned brown, and spices started losing their strength. I should have anticipated this problem when my cabinets smelled much stronger of spices when I replaced my bottles with the rack.

Herbs and spices are very expensive, I want them to last as long as possible. The design would benefit from rubber gaskets around the openings to truly seal the containers.

I've gone back to conventional spice bottles on a rotating shelf.

Whoever came up with this spice rack is an absolute saint. I bought the white one because it is considerably cheaper than the chrome or satin finish version. I remembered kicking myself when I bought it, thinking it was an unnecessary extravagance and the money could be spent better somewhere else. Despite that, this is one of the most functional and user-friendly devices I have in my kitchen. I'm so glad I gave it a shot.

Really, my main concerns when I bought it were: Will I use it; will it make my life easier; is it priced competitively with similar products. I had tried other rotating spice racks, and been very disappointed. The main advantages of this spice rack over other spice racks are:

Low center of gravity compared to other rotating spice racks. It balances better, and fits into tighter spaces.

No twisting to open or close lids. A simple snap top saves a ton of time, and keeps me from having too many messy spills.

Holds a very generous portion of each spice. I didn't have to hold too many half-filled trade packages in reserve after filling this rack. It freed up a lot of kitchen space.

Nice, modular design allows you to stack units, or even hang them from underneath a cabinet.

Seems to me that the containers themselves are reasonably air tight. In a pinch, I've even rinsed off a container with the spices still inside. Turned out just fine.
