These videos are just what I have been hoping to find as far as learning to cook. As someone who has been developing a recent interest in cooking it is so nice to be able to see the techniques on screen. I am a big fan of "active learning" where the student, that would be me, can watch and do. Kitchen Cue's holistic approach to learning cooking skills just works!

While it may not be quite the same as interacting at a cooking class it is about as close as you will get to the real thing while staying home.

These dvds are highly recommended, no hesitation. I want the rest of them.

I started cooking a few years ago. I dvr every food show to try to learn techniques/methods. I've bought [or been gifted with] 27 how to books. I also have several dvd how-to's. THIS ONE IS THE BEST!
I've learned more from this dvd than with any other.
This one is money-well-spent.

I am an experienced cook and was skeptical but decided to give it a try as I wanted to brush up on my skills and wanted I reference I could use at home. I was quickly won over. This DVD has something for everyone. Chef Shellie is an excellent instructor, she is knowledgable, professional and fun--you will get the technique down easily as she walks you through the steps. It is also a perfect review. Additionally, she has packed this DVD with all kinds of useful information in an easy-to-use format that will show you how to cook without recipes or give you new inspiration on combining ingredients and spices. To top it off there is a primer on which types of wines will complement the ingredients you have chosen. A great value!"

I have made over half the recipes in this series and loved every one of them. The best compliment I can give to this product is that my wife has on several occasions, when asked what she would like for dinner, simply said "Why don't you make something from Shellie's video". If you want to try a real treat go for the mission fig dessert after one of these great dinners.

I bought this DVD because it was first in a series and it had all 5 stars reviews. It is kind of expensive in my opinion for a DVD, $30.

Sorry to ruin the perfect star rating, but I think this item is kind of high priced! It is a very short DVD. The actual instructional video is about an hour long. There are supplementary video segments on how to prepare for your "cooking course."
The material contained in the DVD is really small.

There is basic information that is contained with a few explanations for techniques Shelley recommends. It is too simple for me. I consider myself an intermediate cook, as that I like to cook in my spare time. The other KitchenCue videos may be better. I'm not sure if I will purchase others though because this one is just OK. I guess I was expecting something a lot more detailed for the price point.

This dvd is great. It is the first one I have purchased from Kitchencue and Chef Kark. She is very laid back which I like because I think cooking should be about individual taste and creativity not some strict chef yelling at you. She encourages you to learn the technique and then just freestyle with cooking and do it your way. Very informative makes me want to just entertain at home for all my friends. I would have liked it if she had did a full video for all the recipes, but that probably would make the dvd cost more. My only real complaint is that they tease you on the box with all the other dvds that will be released but haven't been as of yet. I want more! Keep them coming, I love them!

This is a great instructional cooking series. My husband and I love to cook and feel that this DVD greatly enhanced our cooking skills by teaching us the fundamental techniques to empower us as chefs.

I love all of the Kitchencue products. I especially like Volume 1 - Sautes and Pan Sauces because I now have even more options to spice up my dishes. Highly recommended.
