Product Description

The KitchenIQ Gourmet Compact Electric or Manual Knife Sharpener features electric and manual sharpening in one compact unit. The electric sharpening slots feature a synthetic abrasive sharpening wheel with blade guides to automatically hold your knife at the correct sharpening angle. After sharpening with the electric sharpening wheel, KitchenIQ recommends using the ceramic rods for final edge honing. Crossed ceramic rods create a pre-set sharpening angle that lightly hones both sides of your blade at the same time putting a polished, razor-shape edge on your knife. The crossed ceramic rods can also be used for a quick touch-up on an already sharp knife. This unit will sharpen household knives of alloy, carbon or stainless steel.

This sharpener really works great.

It looks delicate and if you do a bit of pressure with the knife, sharpener stops.

After using this sharpener, knives are sharp as new!

I love this item. My hands are not as pliable as they use to be and being electric I have no problem using it.

This sharpener really does put a very sharp edge on all plain (NOT serrated) knives. I have always used "static" held sharpeners or "steels" to hone my knives, but once I started to use this electric sharpener, which is really easy to use, and has a "static" honing slot, my knives have performed as they should. Whether slicing fresh bread, tomatoes or meat, the newly sharpened knives sliced as if they were scalpels! I am VERY pleased with this device.

I love this sharpener for two reasons. 1. Its sharpens knives. 2. It has instructions that explain how sharpening a blade is only done by "drawing" the blade toward yourself when honing the blade (this is not the same as cutting toward yourself). And now I have to be careful reaching into my knife drawer, and am even thinking about buying a butcher block to store my cutlery

I ran all of my knives, which hadn't been sharpened in years, several times through the slots and they stayed easy-slicing sharp for about a year before I had to sharpen them again.

This is a small and lightweight sharpener. The motor is undersized and slows down significantly if we apply pressure. A careful but light pull of a knife through the grinding slots is needed. It works well with patience. Due to it's shape it only sharpens scissors that can be taken apart or that open to nearly 180 degrees.

The grinding wheels put a slight bur on the steel edge and need to be honed in the vertical slot and cleaned well before use. It is good value for money but the motor speed prevents me from recommending beyond occasional light use.

So when I got this, I saw that some people said it ruined their knives. It doesn't, took me a while to figure that out. It completely re-edges your knife. The first time it will feel dull and ruined but give it another 3 runs and your knife is like new! My great grandma gave me the Chicago Cultery knives she used for the restaurant and this has made them feel new! I love it and I use it alot.

This sharpener really works great. Use the grinding wheel to get the correct blade angle and then use the v shaped ceramic piece to get the blade really sharp. When the nkife starts to get dull, use the ceramic hone to restore the sharpness.
