We like frozen drinks and smoothies with frozen fruit and this blender quickly blends the ice and frozen chunks of fruit with no problem.

The plastic part of the assembly under the jar got mangled, and the blade is now loose and the whole thing is leaking like crazy.

I purchsed this blender a while back and loved it for several months. It's powerful enough to crush ice and make great smoothies. The large pitcher is made out of polycarbonate that is scratch resistant, shatter resitant and dishwasher safe. After several months of placing in dishwasher only 1 or 2 times per week the pitcher cracked in about 10 places all around the base. I cannot make drinks anymore because they leak all over my kitchen when i start pouring ingredients in. I called kitchenaid and they were extremely unhelpful. They offered to sell me a replacement jar for $46.98 including shipping~~!@#!!!!!! THATS HALF THE COST OF THE BLENDER FOR JUST A JAR!!. Some customer service. Manager would not offer any kind of assistance. They produce a flawed product and to replace a part they incorrectly manufactured from the start the customer is charged almost Bed Bath's wholesale cost for the entire blender with motor and everything but for just the plastic jar. Why do you deserve to make a greater profit off me on a replacement part for flawed product then you did on the entire blender first time around. Furthermore the replacement pitcher only carries a 30 day warryanty, just long enough to make it through a few dishwasher cycles before it shatters again. Buyer Beware. Spend your money on a sturdier product, no $100 blender should break and require an almost $50 replacement part. Companies like kitchen air should really review how they treat their customers there are many comparable products out there and i advise you look at them instead. Sorry Kitchen aid. I love your products but you made a dud here and this blender is selling almost everywhere. I'm sorry for all the unsuspecting consumers who purchased it.

Verified Purchase
My son was having jaw surgery which ment 6 weeks of not chewing.
I did tons of research. Finally I purchased this for the affordable blender and a vita-mix $$$. I have compared the two side by side for two weeks. honestly they are pretty close.
This blender does it all. Be sure to put liquid in the bottom and start in pulse/chop a few quick times, if done I don't think there will be container issue. The vita-mix with the variable speed has you do the same.
The only downside is not having the stick to push down the contents when an air bubble occurs and my raw vegies are a tiny bit courser than the vita-mix. I figure I can take the extra 10 seconds to open the lid and push contents down and know my body will work a tiny bit more on my green smoothies.
I am returning the vita mix, besides this machine takes up way less room on my counter and is a tiny bit quieter.

This is a great blender for all your blending needs. Its Kitchen-Aid, so you know it's well made.

It has great styling and multitudes of colors to fit every decor. The electronic push buttons are a great improvement over the old clunky mechanical buttons. They are easier to clean and operate. Since they are flush with the housing cleanups of spilled items are easy.

This is a powerful blender, easily crushing ice, chopping veggies, or mixing that smoothie or pina colada. It works so quickly, yet is relatively quiet.

The different settings are useful for different tasks and work automatically. For instance on the ice crush setting it automatically pulses for even ice crushing.

Settings such as puree start slow to pull ingredients down into the blades and then it moves up to full speed.

Clean up is easy. Simply fill half way with warm soapy water, blend on puree for 20 seconds, and rinse out. For heavier cleaning the pitcher and top is dishwasher safe.

If you are thinking of getting a blender, this is the one to get. It may seem pricely spending $100 on a blender, but once you use it you'll wonder why you ever bought one of those $30 cheapos.

This is an initial review of the Kitchen Aid 5 speed blender model KSB560OB. The first one we received from Amazon lasted about two weeks. I'm assuming (and hoping) that this was a fluke, that we got a bum unit, period.
When we first opened the box we were impressed with the weight and build of the machine. And as a bonus it exactly matches our Kitchen Aid 12 cup food processor and stand mixer both of which we love.
We washed the jar and set about to make our version of the Panamanian "chicha", basically a fruit smoothie Central American style. In went cut up, ripe tropical fruit, some pineapple juice, a dash of half and half, a lime squeeze and finally a small handful of frozen blueberries and raspberries with a cup of finely crushed ice. Because I was new to this machine I chose "pulse" mode so I could stop it instantly if something untoward happened. I then pressed the "mix" button and the machine responded with an ear shattering clatter and the sound of gears grinding. I released the button fearing that I had somehow seated the jar improperly and stripped the drive gear on the jar, the base or both. I lifted the jar and examined the gearing and found no problem. I shrugged, put it back, hit the mix button and the clatter resumed. After 20seconds or so it quieted drown as the drink became smooth. However, I then noticed a hot electrical odor. I mentioned to my wife at that time "we may have gotten a bad one".
We used the blender three more times with the same kind of result. Lots of noise (think wood chipper) a hot smell and finally a nice, refreshing fruit drink. Then we tried to use it a forth time and nada. No lights, no noise, and of course, no blending. Dead. I checked circuits moved the plug and still nothing.
