5.0 out of 5 stars No Rust, No Leaks
I've had this dish rack in black for about 6 months now I think, maybe even longer. It lives on my counter top since it seems like I am always washing dishes or pans. The joys of having a little one are the constant bottle and then sippy cup washing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rust Spots on Dishes, May 6, 2010
This review is from: Kitchenaid 3 Piece Dish Drying Rack
Although the dish rack is large and well constructed, after just a couple months, the rack began to rust at joints leaving rust stains on the edges of dishes. Avoid this product.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK., March 16, 2010
This review is from: Kitchenaid 3 Piece Dish Drying Rack
I like this dish drying rack pretty well. The only improvements I think would be to add a higher back side so you could stack the dishes a little and slightly higher glass drying things. It would be pretty neat if they made a longer version of this too. I found this slightly cheaper at Costco because they had a coupon.

Update 7/22/10:
The dish drying rack is still working fine for me but, now I will be watching closely for rust. I haven't had that problem yet. I did notice that it doesn't do the best job of keeping water off the counters like other reviewers said. For this reason I updated my star rating to 3 stars instead of 4. It's disappoint though considering the brand name.

1.0 out of 5 stars doesn't drain well, August 1, 2010
This review is from: Kitchenaid 3 Piece Dish Drying Rack
The detachable bottom is slightly warped, and doesn't drain well. Also, the silverware holder (also detachable) does not drain well, and as a result gets slightly moldy looking deep inside. It is VERY hard to clean the silverware holder, by the way. Wish I had not purchased this, especially in white, which does show EVERY spot of anything.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk, July 2, 2010
This review is from: Kitchenaid 3 Piece Dish Drying Rack
As other reviewers have indicated, the metal rack rusts after a few months and stains dishes. The tray is too small and allows water to drip to the the counter. This is the absolute worst dish rack I have owned in the past thirty years. Kitchenaid should be embarassed to put their name on this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Drain tray made of very cheap plastic, November 20, 2010

I had been looking for a dish drainer for at least 6 months. I had some cheap thing I purchased from IKEA and it was really annoying because it was so cheap and lightweight it kept falling over. I saw the KitchenAid rack at Costco and purchased it. Within a week the bottom drainage tray cracked when I was removing it to clean up the water stains. What a disappointment! I tried super-gluing it but it didn't hold up well at all. In the meantime, I cleaned the tray with Pledge Orange Oil spray on polish which has kept the drainage tray looking like new - with the exception of the big crack at the end. At least I don't have to try to remove the tray as frequently for cleaning and risk the chance of cracking it to the point where it is unusable. I should have returned it to Costco or exchanged it for another one. I have not had the problems with rust that others have mentioned but then again, I mostly use this for hand washables, coffee pot and pans. It is sturdy and doesn't fall over but the drainage tray is too narrow to effectively use the tabs on the side for holding glasses or sippy cups. Essentially, if it weren't for the cheap plastic drainage tray, I would love this dish drainer.

I haven't had any issues with it. I'm not sure if it matters, but I did buy this rack in person at a different store, not online.
There are no rust spots, and no rust on my dishes. I've never had any water leak onto my counter tops.

We are currently trying to purchase another one because my dad fell in love with ours and requested one for his birthday.

1.0 out of 5 stars kitchenaid self draining dish rack, February 21, 2011
This review is from: Kitchenaid 3 Piece Dish Drying Rack
I struggle for something good to say about this item. I purchased it elsewhere, but that shouldn't matter. I do like the large silverware tray, but that's where it stops. The glassware racks are not the right size for any of my cups or glasses and if they do fit, they drip beyond where the catch tray is. The self draining tray doesn't drain the way I expected. It rusts, and although it looks to be generously sized, things don't fit well in the plate slots.

2.0 out of 5 stars A host of problems..., January 6, 2011
This review is from: Kitchenaid 3 Piece Dish Drying Rack
My wife purchased this one to replace our 17 year old heavy duty "rubber" (not plastic!) Rubbermaid one that unfortunately cracked at the edges and had to be replaced. And now Rubbermaid does not make the good rubber one anymore, just cheaper plastic ones. With a name of "RUBBER"maid, WHY NOT??!!!

Anyway, this one presents many problems for us...

1. The lip on our sink is 5/8" high so we have to prop up the back end of the drain board with a folded up towel so the water has a "chance" to drain forward into the sink. And the towel sometimes gets wet from the water overflowing the drainboard. The lip around the whole drain board is not high enough!

2. By propping it up with the towel, the legs of the drainboard on the sink side no longer reach the countertop. So the entire weight of the drainboard (with heavy pots and pans in it) is supported by the "spout" of the drainboard resting on the lip of our sink. This causes the spout of the drainboard to flex upwards...which doesn't let the water drain into the sink...which sometimes makes it overflow onto the counter...which makes you have to tip the whole contraption forward to drain the water. Boo!

3. We put the silverware holder on the sink side because it is much easier to access and use on that side. But it hangs over the edge of the sink and into the sink area, limiting the space in the sink for washing dishes/pots.

4. The silverware holder only has one hole in the middle of it to drain water out. It needs more holes since most of the water doesn't go near that hole to drain out (I will probably have to drill some more holes in the bottom). It could also use some ventilation holes in the sides of it to increase airflow to let the silverware dry quicker. You will also need to run it through your dishwasher occasionally to clean it as the bottom of the holder gets dirty.

5. The sides of the stainless steel basket (that holds the dishes/pots/pans) are not tall enough. We load it up high with pots and pans and the low sides don't do a good job of keeping everything in the basket.

6. The slots in the stainless steel basket that hold the plates are angled downward so the plates fall over. That's because we have the drainboard on the LEFT side of our sink but want to keep the "cupholder" side of the basket on the interior side of our kitchen for easy access (and not the backside, next to the wall where there's no room to put the cups). But the plastic end pieces that say "KitchenAid" cannot be removed to change the direction of the basket (and thus the angle of the plateholders). So we have to live with the plateholders angled "downwards" (to the right, toward the sink) making them completely unusable for keeping a plate upright.

I hope this review helps you. If you don't have a lip on your sink this would work a lot better. But please note the other limitations of this drain rack.

Good luck.

1.0 out of 5 stars BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! Do not get attracted by the brand, October 24, 2011
By
This review is from: Kitchenaid 3 Piece Dish Drying Rack
I have many products made by Kitchen Aid. This one was a BIG disappointment. I bought this Rack because it looked nice and it was a familiar brand. A few months of usage and it is all rusty. The rust even got into dishes, and in less than a year I had to throw it away... DO NOT buy this product!
