Bad experience for me. The plastic gear parts broke on my initial use. Otherwise it seems like it would be a decent product. Seller asked me to take down my initial review, as he wanted to make it right with me. I did so within minutes of receiving the request. Felt like I did my part. However, months later I'm still without a replacement parts and the seller is not responding to my emails. Feels like he just wanted me to remove my negative rating. My experience of a broken part was made worse by mismanaged expectations regarding the resolution.

Went ahead and bought the LEM version -- almost identical. It works perfectly.

It worked great out of the box but then the handle snap because it is made out of plastic. Get the LEM which is made of all metal parts.

So I looked around at various machines and attachments for food processors, meat grinders with sausage stuffing tubes and various other gadgets but I wasn't impressed with the reviews.
Finally a friend brought around his 5lb Kitchener sausage stuffer, that he'd never used and wanted to try out.
Well both being novices, we were worried about what problems we'd run into. It so happens there weren't any!
o - The Kitchener sausage stuffer worked a treat.
o - It's easy to take apart and easy to clean.
o - There's hardly any sausage left in the machine (pretty much just the sausage tube) which we push through by hand with the help of a large round end of a wooden spoon.
o - The hog casings go on easily to the tubes with no damage to casings.
o - Smooth action handle allowing the correct "pace" to stuff them cases.
o - No trapped air due to the relief valve
o - Small enough to store and cool in fridge yet big enough to do (of course) 5lb of sausages!

x - It does need to be clamped to a surface (I just clamp to a cleaned kitchen work surface) and you'll need some food grade lubricant for the o ring on the lid.
x - You should hand wash only (I couldn't find any info on dishwasher proof) which makes cleaning more of a chore if you are used to throwing everything in a dishwasher!

Overall I've made 30lb of sausage in the last couple of weeks and the Kitchener Sausage Stuffer has been great.
Highly recommended if you are doing lots of different styles of sausages in small batches. If you are making 20-100lbs of sausages every week you'll need something bigger and a lot more expensive!!!

The broken plastic gears on these can be fixed. Lems silver gear and screw set fits perfectly and is stronger. Only thing you may or may not have to do is file the inside flat part of the handle where it fits on the crank. 2 of the ones I repaired had a small bump that prevented the handle from fitting and 3 did not. I have repaired these for other people and decided I wanted one myself as I have lots of plastic gears now.

After perusing specs and reviews of many different stuffers I decided to buy the Kitchener 5 lb. unit. It appeared to be exactly the same as the LEM 5 lb. stuffer except it had plastic drive gears instead of steel. It was about $35 cheaper, so I went with it. When it arrived I compared it to the LEM my buddy bought and, sure enough, it is identical except for the gears. I also saw the same stuffer under a couple of other different brand names on other websites. Obviously the Chinese manufacturer sells this product to many different companies who then private label it. I used it a couple of weeks after I got it to stuff 25 lbs. of kielbasa and also sweet Italian sausage. It worked flawlessly. The plastic gears are of no concern to me. They seem plenty sturdy-- just be sure not to keep torqueing on the handle when the plunger gets to the bottom of the tub. It is easy to tell when the plunger bottoms out. It empties the tub completely with just a little meat residue left in the exit hole that the horn mounts to. I found it holds about 5 lbs. as it is advertised. Cleanup is a breeze. Wish it came with a horn one size smaller than the smallest it came with for stuffing smaller snack stick sized collagen casings. I used two small c clamps to secure it to the plastic topped folding table I stuffed on, otherwise it would move all over the place when cranking it. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking for an affordable smaller sausage stuffer. Thanks Kitchener!

I have been making sausage for 20+ years. I've used my Kitchenaid and the grinder and sausage tubes. This works OK and cost effective, but it is a PITA to deal with feeding the sausage mixture and handling the tube/casing. Since it is so high off the counter, you almost have to have another person to help.

With this style of sausage stuffer, you no longer have that problem, and time it takes to stuff 5 lbs is a fraction of what the Kitchenaid takes. I have looked at small stuffers for several years, and this is the best value I've found. I have seen this $10 cheaper elsewhere, but I had a $25 card I got for Christmas, and shipping was included, so it was a no brainer.

If there is a negative, it is that the gears are plastic, but as others have said, that should not be an issue. There are other versions of this stuffer with metal gears, but they are $50 more. If you treat it reasonably this should not be a problem. Just don't overcrank it.
